Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse Wins Critics' Choice Award Over Mirai

The Broadcast Film Critics Association announced its winners for the 24th Critics' Choice Awards on Sunday, and Sony's Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse animated film won the Best Motion Picture – Animated category. Mamoru Hosoda's Mirai anime film was nominated in the category, along with The Grinch, The Incredibles 2, Isle of Dogs, and Ralph Breaks the Internet.
Mirai is also nominated in the Best Animated Independent Feature and Outstanding Achievement for Writing in an Animated Feature Production categories for the 46th Annual Annie Awards.
GKIDS and Fathom Events began screening Mirai in 700 U.S. theaters on November 29 last year, and the film also screened on December 5 and December 8. GKIDS also held its own theatrical release in the United States on November 30.
The 100-minute film opened at #2 at the box office in Japan on July 20 last year.
