Monster Hunter: World Game Has Combined 6 Million Copies in Physical Shipments, Digital Sales Worldwide

CAPCOM announced on Friday that the Monster Hunter: World game has shipped 6 million copies worldwide. The figure includes digital sales. The game is the fastest game in CAPCOM's history to reach the 6 million mark.
The Monster Hunter game series debuted in 2004, and as of Friday has sold a total of more than 46 million copies.
Monster Hunter: World launched worldwide on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on January 26, and shipped 5 million copies worldwide (including digital sales) in its first three days to set a new franchise record.
The game will receive free updates, including new monsters, starting this spring. CAPCOM also plans to launch the game for PC this fall.
The new game is an open world game that no longer has the previous games' loading screens in between areas, and thus no longer allows players to use zone transitions as safe zones. The game has a "living ecosystem" that allows players to use and destroy elements of the environment, and use monster behaviors against other monsters.
