Vinland Saga Manga's U.S. Release Could End After 7th Volume

The official Twitter account of Kodansha Comics reported on Tuesday that the publisher could stop its English release of Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga manga after publishing the manga's seventh volume. The publisher asked fans to "please preorder and don't let this great series die!" The publisher explained that it hopes that it will "be able to license the next arc, but it's up in the air at the moment."
Kodansha Comics scheduled the seventh volume for December 29.
Kodansha Comics describes the manga:
Thorfinn is son to one of the Vikings' greatest warriors, but when his father is killed in battle by the mercenary leader Askeladd, he swears to have his revenge. Thorfinn joins Askeladd's band in order to challenge him to a duel, and ends up caught in the middle of a war for the crown of England. From the creator of the classic Planetes manga comes this epic, highly-anticipated tale.
Yukimura launched the series in Weekly Shōnen Magazine in 2005, but Kodansha moved the series to Afternoon later that year. Kodansha published the manga's 16th compiled volume in Japan in June. Kodansha Comics released the sixth omnibus volume of the manga in English on September 1.
