Sony Sells 29.3 Million PS4s Worldwide

Sony's latest quarterly financial report revealed on Thursday that total PlayStation 4 sales surpassed 29.3 million units after the second quarter of fiscal year 2015. Sony sold four million units during the quarter, which lasted from July 1 to September 30.
During the quarter, the company's profits rose to 33.6 billion yen (US$278 million), compared to a 136 billion yen (US$1.1 billion) loss in the same period last year. Sony attributed the rise mainly to PlayStation 4 sales, which saw a 16.5% increase in revenue from last year.
The console first launched in the U.S. and Canada in November 2013 and in Japan in February 2014. Sony sold 7.5 million PS4 units in fiscal year 2013, 14.8 million units in fiscal year 2014, and 3 million units in the first quarter of fiscal year 2015, bringing the new worldwide sales total to 29.3 million units as of September 30.
