Anime Central 2001
by George Phillips,Anime Central 2001
Storms rolled overhead and cold winds blew while 3200+ otaku gathered inside a cramped Sheraton hotel a short distance from O'Hare Airport in Chicago. Their attendence was for nothing less than Anime Central, the largest anime convention in the area, and neither foul weather nor foul stenches were to keep the otaku from their destination.
As was announced on the Anime Central mailing list a mere week before the convention, the hotel was to undergo construction and renovation the same weekend. With the main entrance closed for renovations, and many of the hallways filled with construction workers, there were few places large enough for friends to stop and chat.
Anime Central occurred between Friday, May 11th and Sunday May 13th, 2001.
