I cannot stress any further that you should absolutely not buy, or even touch this fabric. The fabrics are low quality, high priced, and cause negative skin reactions and rashes just from coming into contact with them.
Other than an aversion to lotions (they make my skin feel greasy), I have never had a skin condition in my life. Handling these fabrics make my hands get an itchy/burning feeling, akin to an allergic reaction. I know someone else whose hands turned bright red, and he said they felt on fire. He put on clear plastic gloves, and handling the fabric turned the gloves brown, which indicates there are chemicals on them. Furthermore, they're not even that great of quality. The spandex fabrics are basically the same as the performance fabrics, except with a $5-10 price increase. Also, every single one of them is "hand wash only," many of them adding "separately" to the tag. I've heard reports of many of the metallic spandex having the metallic sections separate apart from the fabric upon washing (or even just unfolding it). |

My goodness, that's not safe at all. How in the world is that fabric being sold? |

Question - is this fabric for all body types, or is she continuing her philosophy of body-shaming by not letting anyone larger than a size 0 purchase it?
Also, is she going to threaten to sue conventions if anyone sells any sort of fabric in the dealer's room, the way she did when someone else was selling cat ears that looked nothing like hers? |

I've not experienced any allergic reactions (though I've heard of several others who have and have even seen photos), but I can vouch for these fabrics being low quality and MASSIVELY overpriced.
You can go across the aisle at Joann's and basically get the same thing for half the price, and it will be better quality. Don't waste your time or money with these. All these fabrics are going to do are exploit cosplayers who happen to not know better.
It will probably police itself. Being that her four way stretch is 30.00 a yard, anyone who needs more than a couple of yards of it probably can't afford it anyway. |

Yaya Han has never looked more beautiful.
However, I wonder why are people giving her heat for selling allegedly "low-quality" cosplay products? Perhaps she was simply unaware of them containing materials that could be harmful? |

According to Yaya, all of the fabrics were chosen/inspected/etc. by her, so I am sure she's well aware they're low quality. She might not know about the allergic reactions (although I do know that people have brought it up on her fb page and some of those comments have been mysteriously deleted), but she's certainly well aware of the quality/price of them. I'm not sure why, considering the low quality products she's attached her name to before (namely the awful and insulting Heroes of Cosplay), I should give her the benefit of the doubt. |

After having read this blog showcasing the allergic reactions that resulted from Yaya Han's fabric, I now wonder why she knowingly keeps selling costumes that are laced with these harmful chemicals. In this case, I find the backlash to be warranted and it'll only get worse the longer Yaya let's this problem go unaddressed. |

Oh, I remember her now! Based on what you guys say, this sounds like a case of a markup due to celebrity endorsement. We'll see how strong her name can be as a brand.
This looks aimed at people who want to get into cosplay but know nothing about it. That is, it looks like it's trying to come across as a good way to start. As for Heroes of Cosplay, well, there's no way it can be more harmful than Storage Wars. The only damage Heroes of Cosplay can do is create stereotypes about female cosplayers. Storage Wars inflicts financial damage on people who decide to pay huge bucks on public storage auctions, not realizing the show's staff plants valuable items into those storage rooms beforehand. Heroes of Cosplay also didn't last very long, so its impact would be minimal.
Because no laws are broken, and there's money to be had. |

I suggest seeing your local tailor for information on high quality fabrics at low prices and allergy info for all your Cosplay needs.

What if we have no local tailors, and all we have are Joann and those super-Walmarts?

Then I suggest opening the yellow pages and calling a Tailor for the information although it is a lot more informative to meet in person. |

There's been a lot of hate for Heroes of Cosplay and YaYa Han long before this clothing line.
Also, there doesn't have to be harmful materials or chemicals in the fabric in order for people to have allergic reactions to them. Spandex isn't exactly a natural material. My wife is allergic to many dyes and other materials, that most people have no problem with. As for the expense, well, as with all things branding you are paying for the name. It is up to the consumer whether the price and brand equates to quality. Nothing new there. If YaYa Han is really doing something wrong, then the police need to be called. Otherwise I will just chalk this up to haters finding reasons to continue being haters. |

Jo-Ann still has plenty of other fabrics for cosplay. Heck, a lot BETTER fabrics for cosplay than hers. And most stores should have people who are knowledgable in costuming.
I've been making costumes for over 15 years now, and been working with fabrics heavily for 2 years now. I have no allergies, and have never had the reaction I had with her fabric with anything else, including the non-YH spandexes, pleathers, brocades, and other similar (and half the price/double the quality) fabrics. The same with the other people I know personally who have had similar/worse reactions. |

If there is something inherently wrong with her fabric's line, that it is causing a mass allergic reaction, then that is something that should be investigated by the police. If the fabric line is indeed causing mass allergic reactions as you and others are seemingly implying, then there is probably something illegal going on in the manufacturing of the fabric.
I am not saying you are wrong, but if none of you are reporting this, it does make it sound like it is not really that important. |
