You really think fansubbers will stop doing SEED Destiny?
And that's a bad thing? |

I think Laruto is being sarcastic.

, for some reason this reminds me of Ned Flanders. Not that I think you're trying to impersonate him, but if that's the case then "gosh diddly-arn it" would be a little closer approximation to his trademark "diddly" speech pattern . In any case I feel this license is a bit too sudden as I haven't even had a chance to watch all of the first SEED series yet . I've got some catching up to do.. |

It's Gundam Tony! It was licensed the moment it was created, whether they had announced it yet or not. Can this be merged with the "official" news thread? |

Yay! I figured that Destiny would be licenced sometime this year, but I honestly didn't expect it this early...nice to hear their releasing the compilation movies, but this makes me a bit iffy on if I should continue buying the series, I only have 2 DVDs, or get the movies and buy Destiny when it's released...

Finish buying the series, get the movies, and then get Destiny. It won't be out on DVD till Fall at the earliest, and the DVD releases finish up in May (volumes 8 and 9 are due to be released later this month) and you can get the DVD's quite inexpensively on DeepDiscountDVD.com for $17.99/DVD w/ free shipping. Trust me, the series is well worth buying, as you're able to follow Destiny even better (I'm currently watching Destiny, so I know about this), and the movies are good for showing to friends who want to get into SEED, but don't have the time to watch the entire series (plus, you finally get the infamous scene where Flay sleeps with Kira). But unlike the arguements made for the Original Mobile Suit Gundam movies (which were subtitles, due to the series' original japanese masters having become corrupt, and a remastered audio), the arguements for getting the movie compilations over the series can be made for cost and for time-to-watch. But if you've already started to buy the series DVDs, I recommend buying the rest of the series, especially since you can get the DVDs for such an inexpensive price.

Deffinatly finish the series. The last 10 episodes of SEED are the best of the entire series (imho), and watching it summed up in a compilation movie will not be able to convey the story like the series would.
Other than that, I am sad to see DESTINY off my fan-subbed list now... But, DVD's are on their way, I will just have to wait now . |

Eh, personally I don't see the SEED Special Editions as being worth anything beyond the new scenes and maybe a quick reference guide (a Cliff's Notes of sorts) for people already familiar with the series. The pacing and flow to them is choppy at best and they do very iffy job of telling the story coherently. The Mobile Suit Gundam movies flowed great as stand-alone movies, but the SEED specials really only work if you've already seen the series (or maybe missed about ten or so episodes in the middle).

Thanks for the heads up, as I have not seen the series compilation movies for SEED, so I was speculating, figuring they'd be as good as the original MSG's movie trilogy was. I'll still probably get the SEED series compilation movies, as I have already seen SEED, and will soon be done getting all the SEED DVDs (the next 2 to be released are already on preorder, and I'll be putting vol. 10 on preorder sometime in april most likely, once I figure out where I'll be during the month of May). As for destiny and finishing watching it: I'll keep that to myself. Glad it's been licensed, but in a way, I'm not so happy. I'll definitely be buying the Destiny DVDs when they're released, however, and I encourage all of you who like SEED to buy the Destiny DVDs as well. Destiny is truly an awesome sequel to SEED, and in a way, it may even turn out to be a superior series (essentially, standing taller than the giant because it is stand on the shoulders OF that giant. I have no problem with that, however, since a good sequel should do exactly that). |

Here's hoping Bandai gets this one on YTV faster than they did with SEED. You know, since SEED seems to be doing well up here.

I doubt it'll be on TV so fast in America, at least, since they haven't even finished showing SEED, and even if they finished right now, it's only had one run through the episodes. No, it'll probably be another year before SEED Destiny gets on TV. |
