Ah Haikyu Season 2. This is a show that I really enjoy so far based on the manga and I have faith that it will continuously entertain the audience with its characters and gameplay.
Even that new girl is starting to become interesting especially since she is taking on the manager role, a position that I hope she can become accustomed to.

Quote: | Kageyama, the least friendly individual on the planet |
Not even clear he's the least friendly individual on the team, given Tsukishima. Speaking of which, did you notice that in the scene where everyone congratulated Yachi on joining the team as manager, turning around and showing off their own team shirts, Tsukishima didn't? He was just sitting there in the background with a "no way am I doing that hot blooded 青春 crap" expression that was very in character. Even Kageyama did the "welcome to the team!" bit.

In the 2nd episode, when the team members didn't pray for good grades, but skipped straight to the obsequies, I couldn't stop laughing.

Tsukishima isn't so much unfriendly as just too cool for school. He's intensely practical, and sees that sort of thing as being childish and silly, and he's above all that. Where Kageyama doesn't know how to interact with people and has a hard time trusting them, Tsukishima does, but he just doesn't care about things like high fives and acting a fool. But he gets along fine with Tadashi, and seems to have the social skills to be around other people without seeing every interaction as a threat or a challenge he's likely to fail. Where Kageyama is now able to be proud of his team's jacket, to Tsuki, it's just a jacket, and nothing to get excited about. To him, there's very little worth getting excited about. There's probably something, but we haven't seen it yet.
I get the feeling that Tsuki's height has something to do with this. He stands out simply by virtue of being a head or more taller than everyone around him, so he's adopted a sort of social invisibility to reduce the glare of the spotlight. On the other hand, he does appreciate being noticed when he's earned it, but he's careful not to draw attention otherwise.
The poster was indeed awesome. As was Hinata's reaction - you could see all sorts of "Wow, that's really me?" in his face.
Btw, is Coach being paid for this? He's putting in a lot of time for a volunteer position. How does he keep the store going?

Really enjoying myself with this sequel. Loved the stone praying face Tanaka does whenever exams are mentioned. Sounds weird but I enjoy how the animation depicts people's facial movement. Even something as small as Kageyama's yawn will exaggerate it so his face looks really tired and his mouth all wide.
I would argue that Yachi is the expy for fans who watch sports anime but, never cared or played the sports in real life. Not as a parody but, more of a way to welcoming the person who as Kiyoko said "don't need a lofty excuse to start joining". Also, enjoy that Kiyoko is more vocal in these few episodes since some female characters in male dominated sports anime don't have much of a personality.
As for Yachi being Hinata's love interest, I seriously doubt it since A. The HinataXKageyama fans will bite the creator's head off B. The YachiXKiyoko fans will follow suit and C. The series has always been about camaraderie than romance so Yachi is just a new crow joining the flock.

Ahhh, Haikyuu. I really don't care about volleyball, but I ADORE Haikyuu. I started watching it due to the art style appealing to me, kept watching it because it was hilarious, and now it's one of my favorites due to developed characters.
I don't care about volleyball but I care a lot about THIS volleyball Good to have yah back, silly volleyball boys <3
I burst out laughing at the end of ep 3, with the boys' reactions to exams being passed out. Oh lord....

That's exactly how I found/fell in love with the show too! I'm watching it for the characters, so these "let-down" episodes are actually not a let down at all if the characters are the prime reason a viewer is drawn to the show.
As I see it Yachi actually serves two roles: 1) she's going to be the new manager, duh, and, undoubtedly, will serve as another character to which the game of volleyball is explained so any clueless-viewers can keep up. Seriously, I think Haikyu!! remains accessible to non-sports fans because those explanations of the game and its rules are integrated seamlessly into the story. Those sequences are believably placed and everything.
Also, I have to mention this, as I seem to remember that last season an ANN reviewer was mystified as to what purpose Kiyoko actually served besides being the token lone female character in a gaggle of guys...well, this season is where she'll shine! Plus, I think she's done more talking already in these past three episodes than in all of last season! lol

I haven't started the second season yet, but I've been reading the manga. Does the beginning of this season closely follow how that manga is going?

Indeed it does. Very true to form. Some of the panels have even been brought to life verbatim in the animation (though you wouldn't know it if you haven't read the manga).

Thanks for the fast response. I'll check this one out for sure. Unfortunately I don't have a CR subscription so I'll wait till it starts popping up on Hulu. Though I'll be a bit behind, it's not a big deal for me. I'll get to enjoy this nonetheless.
Am I safe to assume that Sentai has picked up the second season for home video release?

"Mostly this episode is about introducing the next set of opponents for our team, and there are plenty of stand-outs for Karasuma to worry over, especially since their team is noticeably weaker before the two test re-takers arrive."
Karasuma is the name of the teacher in Ansatsu Kyoushitsu. KARASUNO is the name of the team in Haikyuu!! - just saying.

You can still watch Haikyu!! on Crunchyroll even without a subscription you'll just be a week behind in episodes and you'll have to watch a few ads. And, yes, Sentai did pick up the second season license. Which was really fast!

I was about to say the same thing. Also Tanaka's name is "Ryu (well, Ryuunosuke)," not "Ryo." ^^;
I loved the car scene! Sleeping Kageyama was adorable and the little bits of comedy such as him bumping his head and his bedhead were great.
