The Eclipes Spirit arc is interesting. You're right its' not great but it does have it's moments, Gray dancing being one of them. It does provide a nice cleanser after the length of the GMG and Eclipse Gate arc but before the dark brooding arcs of Tartarus and somewhat weak arc that is Sun Village.

I liked the Eclipse Spirits, they were all really interesting and it was fun to hear the different voices for the dub, hear Jessica Cavenagh do kiddie Aquarius was fun, she so locked in as that Mature cranky woman this was a great showing from her, as was Didi doing a voice that wasn't soft and shy like she always does. And qny Chance to hear Teri Doty do something is always great.

Side note I also liked what Carli Mosier did with Ophiuchus.

In terms of being Filler the Eclipse Spirit arc is fun, has it's moments, is serviceable but won't be the subject of a "Could this have actually worked as Canon" like the Key of the Starry Skies arc was.

I agree. It's no where near Fairy Tail's best filler material, but it's still worth watching for the sillyness of it. How can you say no to Smooth Criminal Gray? Hint: You can't. I can defend The Key of the Starry Skies arc because it's semi-canon/Mashima approved, but this one a different story. It's great for further building Lucy's relationship with her spirits, seeing as it becomes a plot point in Tartaros. And seeing the spirits take on new forms is entertaining, too. Ophiuchus' alternate form is my favorite and Carli Mosier played her perfectly, even better than the Japanese Seiyuu, in my opinion.

Still, I wish it could have been shortened a little bit because knowing that the Sun Village and Tartaros arc is after this one just makes getting through all these episodes a bit of a pain. Overall, a good filler arc, but not a great one.

It seems strange that the quality of voice acting got so much praise in the written review yet both versions only got C+ in the ratings.

I wish I could just enjoy the arc for its silly factor, but it set up the emotional stake of Lucy getting betrayed by her (albeit brainwashed) spirits and gave it a piss poor resolution spoiler[(the spirits return to normal but don't remember a thing about what happened)] that the whole thing felt like a waste of time in the end. At least the previous story arc had satisfying character arcs with Lucy, Michelle, Mest and a few of the Legion members, even if it was admittedly a mess. spoiler[And while I'm aware the Eclipse spirit incident does get brought up again while the CSK is fighting Mard Geer, it's hardly a cathartic moment.]

because that grade isn't solely for the voice acting.

Grey's dance battle with Michael Jackson moves is probably my favorite thing in the whole show.

Not even lying.

And I'm not even part of Grey's fanclub especially.

i think you mean the infinity clock arc,not the starry skies arc. also while it was a funny arc, i wouldnt say it was memorable. other than the eclipse version of Leo, the others weren't that interesting.

with the many faults for the bleach filler arcs, the two good ones were the bount and zanpacto rebellion arc and this is one they should have had the celestial rebellion arc just like or similar to the 1st part of the zanpacto rebellion.
