I read the LN awhile ago so don't remember much about it but there was quite a bit of content just for each chapter. Hoping to see some anime footage soon.

The cast choices seems decent.

Do we have any idea how long this is slated to run? One of the big failures of Total Eclipse was expecting a second two cours and not getting them.

what ?

iirc, the reason TE was so weird was because it was supossed to be only one coeur, then they suddently got a second one aproved, which explains the filler episodes right away adn teh chagne of director.

TE was always going to cover all(ish) the existing material and did. It sure as hell didn't do well enogh for a sequel.

The director change was just because he was terrible.

But IIUC, the Total Eclipse LN gets all the way up to Operation Ouka / Cherry Blossom, which is months away at the end of the anime. The anime also ends with the romantic triangle unresolved, the big secret connecting Yui and Yuuya unrevealed, and a mysterious Big Bad introduced right in the last episode and totally undeveloped. That's what I mean by "expecting" more cours… it really felt like they were setting up for another season.

I thought the thing they were setting up was "Buy the visual novel!" I don't think it's unlikely that the same thing happens with the Schwarzesmarken anime.

However, maybe this time it won't be so bad for the Western fans, as they might have a chance to buy the Schwarzesmarken visual novels in English relatively soon. On the basis of the hints given by the Muv-Luv Kickstarter team I think they are going to use the excess Kickstarter funds to translate the SM VNs.

That would be extraordinary, wouldn't it? Generally, we've had access to VNs many years after they come out, so getting a big one like Schwarzesmarken more or less alongside its Japanese original could change the industry, much like how anime moved to the simulcasting model.

(Although I've gotten careful about parsing Degica's hints too. They made a reference to an update "tomorrow or the day after" and everyone's like "they're doing Muv-Luv Unlimlited: The Day After!!!")

Funny thing is, I thought Angel Beats! would have been our best chance for the simul-VN to take off, given the western fandom for that franchise. Then again, who's even talking about the VN for that anymore?

It doesn't. The LN was a hanging cliffhanger for years until the game came out, the anime version actually at least cut the most egregious part out.

No part of the TE game even takes place in November or December either, it actually barely even overlaps the time period of the original.
