Heh so this is the parody of Attack on Titan. I would have to say that watching the original series would make watching this series much more enjoyable.

Surprisingly, I find the show's parody with its characters and story to be quite amusing and cleverly done.

This actually works much better as an anime than a manga.

Really because the manga had a lot funnier jokes I thought and the anime really doesn't want to just plain adapt the manga it seems.

I guess it just boils down to personal preference. (I didn't mean to present my opinion as the definitive word on the subject.) I do enjoy the manga, but it often feels very disjointed and unfocused. Conversely, I think many of the gags come off less awkwardly in the anime, and the narrative changes help the paper-thin story flow a bit more naturally.

What if Armin's serious personality only had a mundane focus, like keeping warm and finding a futon? (Okay, I didn't exactly get that joke.)

If one is looking for a deeper meaning here, I can think of two main things.
A. In the main series, Armin wants to see what lies beyond the walls and the horizon. Here he's practically a shut-in.
B. Despite sub-point A., Armin can get quite pessimistic at times, hence, in this show, it was replaced with being susceptible to cold. So he needs a pep talk & a cheer-me-up (read: radiators of happy thought and purring kittens running in the meadow, or something similar).

If one is looking for contextual meaning, it's just plain absurd, and with Misaka's attachment towards her scarf, it made the scene even funnier. Very Happy Laughing

I'm more inclined towards the second interpretation.

Even though in my opinion the first episode was very lackluster, I caught myself multiple times laughing throughout the second. Armin was the spotlight of the episode and Hange was hilarious too.

I can't get over Mike sniffing Bertolt though, lol.

This series is so far a lot funnier than I would have originally given it credit for. The characters' personalities are intact, albeit somewhat flanderized, and I'm looking forward to seeing what they can do with these characters in a show like this.

The first two eps were pretty fun, lol.

That OP is amazing and I was amused every time they threw in some of the original soundtrack lol.

These first episodes used the easiest jokes and didn't show any sign of creative commentary on the Titan series. My hopes are not high.

Yep. This kind of stuff is why I'm watching the show - not for the comedy, for reasons the review spelled out nicely, but for the little fanservice bits like this. That being said, the jokes that really do land combine that fanservice with humorous twists, so it can still work on that level every once in a while.

I wasn't sure if that was the approach they were taking to this. I'll probably end up watching it if it is going with a parody. I wasn't terribly interested in a show that was just a comedy that happened to have Attack on Titan characters, so this is welcome information.

I thought the joke was simply that Armin is physically the weakest and most childlike member of the squad, turning it up to the absurd level of a sheltered little boy who can't go out without a literal safety blanket and catches colds the second he get exposed to the elements even a tiny bit.
