That's it. That's the best shot this project had.

I wouldn't mind seeing it die, but this zombie's still walking, somehow.

Damn. Really? That's a shame. Would have been a match made in heaven.

Oh well, can't really blame the guy. He's a busy man.

There's probably a better chance at seeing Star Wars Episode X than seeing the Akira movie becoming a true reality. Quite unfortunate that the movie has to be in development hell.

That's cool. Gotta wonder if he realizes the huge influence Mad Max and Road Warrior had on a generation of manga/anime.

Isn't that a good thing? Akira is more plot than constant mindless action.

George Miller is a multifaceted director. He directed Happy Feet.

Sort of. I think what captured a lot of the audience back when this film was really big in the US, though, kind of is that action. I think Miller would have probably been the best option for this film, to be honest.

That's too bad. I think he could have done it justice. He is a pretty good director, even if the later Mad Max movies are a bit... well, milking it too much I guess is the way I think of it... I may check out Fury Road though, since it has a new cast and all... (If Gibson was still playing the role it would be a parody of itself at this point...)

You know, if the producers had just let Chronicle guy continue making Chronicle movies and built up his resume a little better, we could have continued having semi-Akira films like Chronicle. But nooooo. Instead Fox threw two hundred mil at a newbie director to churn out another Fantastic Four movie that nobody asked for. Who knows if Chronicle guy will even make another movie after that?

Well, that's kind of a shame. I wouldn't have put him on my radar for Akira but that actually sounds like a great fit. At this point though, I can't see any well established director going into this if only because it's been in production limbo for so long but who knows. At least Miller sounds like he has a true passion and appreciation for anime.

People who call Fury Road merely mindless action do not appreciate the god tier world building along with subtleties and nuances the story itself has.

Oh, and Miller was probably inspired by Akira Kurosawa. But frankly, it doesn't matter who directs Akira. I agree with Alan Moore that there are certain stories which work best in certain mediums, and which would be terrible in other mediums.

This is bad why? considering all the alleged ugliness and bridge burning Trank engaged in while filming Fantastic Four.
