Ah, another adaptation from Cygames. They are on quite a roll recently. Not sure how I feel about A-1 Pictures being involved with this though.

A-1 + action/fantasy? Eeeeh not the best combination atleast animation wise *looking at Magi and crying*. But we'll see.

Critically? Probably. Commercially? Not necessarily.

Even with Aniplex's monster stealth marketing machine ready to pick up the slack they probably picked not only the worst possible day but the worst possible hour to announce this considering the other popular game adaptation that was announced.

Good. We need more anime like this with ACTUAL story/plot with some action, fantasy, etc...not those mainstream, typical fan service little high school girls anime...

It's based on a cell phone game with bishoujo and bishonen character designs adapted by A-1 Pictures the king of mercenary studios. How much story, character development and interesting plotting do you think it's really going to have vis a vis waifu pandering and fan service. Action you might expect sometimes but even then probably not as much as just talking and fan service stuff. If there's one thing I've learned over the years is just because you shift the genre to something more outlandish like swords and sorcery fantasy or sci-fi mecha or military does not in any way mean that it's going to be taken particular advantage of.

Lately I'm not even convinced there's anybody left in TV anime that actually knows how to do Fantasy action anime well anymore and without falling back on the otaku pandering stuff that is most prominent in high school bishoujo anime. Let's be realistic, even Shingeki no Bahamut enjoyable as it was in that it did take full advantage of it's setting and what it was given was hardly anything significant when it came to anything to do with storytelling and that's probably been the best example of a game adaptation in quite a while.

I wonder how the rules for smartphone RPGs compare to traditional console RPG games.
