Congratulations Nitama! I'm sure you'll do Tama-Chan proud.

It's funny that the cat's called Nitama, will the next one be named Santama?

She had been appointed as Tama's successor a long time ago. It's just that after Tama's passing, it became official.

Does anybody know what happened to Tama's sibling, Chibi? Shouldn't these things stay in the family?

Quote: | Tama became "Tama Daimyojin" at her funeral, a title that designates the cat as a local deity. She was also bestowed the title "honorable eternal stationmaster." |
I think that is so sweet.
And good luck Nitama!

If we take the cat's name and Westernize it, it will be Tama the Second or Tama II. The start of a new ruling legacy in Japan's rail transportation?

Just another reason I love Japan.
Good luck to Nitama, and I wish him/her good health!

Nitama is a lady stationmaster cat! The vast majority of calico cats are female, since it takes two X chromosomes to make the calico pattern. :3 Male calico cats have the XXY chromosomal abnormality.
And congratulations Nitama! May you do your local patron deity proud.

I wish they would have this line of succession for Akitas at the Shibuya train station since Hachiko was so famous there.
