I think this is becoming a trend recently with at least three of them announced this year. |

I know they aren't completely the same, and it would be equivalent to try and view Slam Dunk and Kuroko no Basket under the same light, but I can't help but feel that both this show and the previously mentioned Long Riders! are getting adaptation mainly due to Yowamushi Pedal's critical acclaim and sales. After a quick search across the net, I found that, excluding the 3 shows I mentioned here, there are 3 more cycling-related series that got animated across 4 entries: 2007's Over Drive, the Nasu series (which includes a 2003 movie, Andalusia no Natsu, and a 2007 OVA, Suitcase no Wataridori), and 2005-2006's Idaten Jump.; so yeah, getting 2 bicycle club adaptation announced just 4 months apart after a long "drought" it quite big.
