Thought the lips were the only part that let it down, looks very realistic otherwise.

Half-Japanese, half-European, all hamster.
Sometimes I wonder if Japan's eager march into the uncanny valley is because the engineers have forgotten what real women look like.

Yeah I noticed that as well. Now all they have to do is give her a moving body with all the proper plumbing and she will become the ultimate love doll.

Everyone who wants 15 dollars to work at McDonalds, say hi to your lovely replacement.

Everyone is going on about automated sex dolls. However it is obvious that this is intended to replace people in low level repetitive positions (such as hotel clerk) and still provide a "human" face to interact with. Technology has been doing this all along. Recent versions include such things as ATMs and self checkout grocery stores. All this would do is give the illusion of human interaction.
In a society such as Japan's where they anticipate a shortage of entry level workers it makes sense. While it is possible that the technology will be diverted to sexual uses, that does not invalidate the basic research. Of course it also ignores the fact that a certain percentage of the population is not capable of anything more than entry level jobs.
That said, this particular example still has a long way to go to get out of uncanny valley.

There is a reason I avoid ATMs and self-checkout whenever possible. I'd prefer to keep giving businesses a reason to hire workers and pay them decently, so I try not to do business in a way where the employer can say, "See, a machine can do the job just as well."

The movement of the lips could use more work; other than that, I could hardly recognize Erica as an android with her features looking so realistic.

There is still a demand for entry-level workers in many fields, like the robotics industry that made this android.

not gonna lie that was the last thing i'd think of lmao
its a shame that the first thing i think of when i see this kind of progress in the android and 3d field is "oh my god they're gonna pornify it" i had the same reaction with the morpheus/anime article they had here some time ago. I mean i know thats not the only application for it, but with the way I've been conditioned to view the japanese and their 'crazy' inventions i cant help it
