Near is a girl, for some reason. But damn if she doesn't look the part.

I would really like to who whose idea it was to have a woman play near in a live-action show. I can see him having a female voice in the anime but I disagree with him being played by a woman in a live-action show. Come on, he's a guy, so have a guy play him.

Not another one! We already had great live action films that actually improved on the source material by condensing it and removing the bad parts. Forgetting about the spinoff movie, the live action films are a good way to watch the story.
Well, I guess the company that has the rights to the franchise is probably hoping for a big pile of money right now... |

I'm no expert, but either Near is wearing a wig or she has an enormous forehead.

Light and L look really cool and realistic, but Near is incredibly bad. I hate that he's actually a girl, I hate his unrealistical hair and, although it's a shock since I'm a guy, I hate his boobs. Near shouldn't have boobs, you know?

I could only see this working if the character of Near is supposed to be a girl in this version. If Near is supposed to be a guy in this one, then the Japanese might not been thinking about this happening when they were doing the casting. If they were, then they should know that it would make more sense to have Near as a guy. |

I think Near is going to be a boy, he's just going to be played by a girl.
Like Peter Pan. |

In my opinion, at least from that photo, Light looks perfect.
I don't have problems with Near either, but about L... he looks too frail and "uke" (sorry) to me. What's worse is that the previous actor (the old movies one, Ken'ichi Matsuyama) was practically perfect for the character, so casting any other actor to play L was bound to disappoint me anyway... |

Guy or not, I believe that they hit the top with the live action films. Death Note works better that way, as all the filler gets pushed to the side. Making another live-action series seems unnecessary. Speaking of, I wonder how the American live-action one's going. Either it'll be groundbreaking and pave the way for American remakes or be completely crap like the others. |
