What's BDS?

Anyway, this announcement isn't a huge surprise given that Funi licensed Hosoda's last two flicks, but is very welcome nonetheless. Hosoda is like Shinkai for me: I will absolutely watch and own anything he does.

I also expected Funimation to pick this up; I hope it is good. Speaking of other Hosoda movies, I hope Funimation or other company soon rereleases The Girl Who Leapt Through Time. I regret not buying the Bandai Ent BD.

Sure, Hosoda really deserves more recognition, as well as its movies. I'm really looking forward to this movie, it looks like it is really funny and touching.

Sweet! I've really enjoyed everything Hosoda has made thus far, and I can't wait to see this one. Hopefully it'll play in a theater near here.

I don't know that much about Hosoda, but given his previous works, I really hope that this isn't what he's aiming for.

That's not to say that they aren't Oscar-worthy, but rather that the Oscars are a fuqqen joke, and by aiming for the Oscars, he would really be belittling the value his own talent. Movies like Summer Wars do not need Oscar-style validation. they stand on their own as masterpieces, regardless of what the "film elites" want to say about it.

They can be confident all they want. But unless Kadokawa's backing the campaign, it's not gonna happen.

I hope this comes to my area. I've been taking my dad to see anime movies at my local theater in order to bond with him more and gradually reveal my interest in anime with him. I want to do more of this with him.

Congrats to Funi. While I haven't seen either film, given the reception that Hosoda's last 2 films that Funi licensed have had, maybe this one will continue that tradition.

Expected, but very welcome. I have no doubt in my mind that this will be another masterpiece from Hosoda. His works are just fantastic, and Wolf Children was definitely Oscar worthy (I mean, if we're just basing that on how respectable the Oscars should be). It's a shame it never even got nominated, but even Ghibli films have a hard enough time on that front. Regrettably, I have yet to actually watch The Girl Who Leapt Through Time. I really would like to, but I'm actually waiting for there to be a re-release so I can actually afford it. You'd think Funimation would be all over that one, maybe a license has to expire or something.
