PS4. PS4 everywhere(well, in the top 5). Type-0 being #1 was expected. PS4 will be #1 next week thanks to Bloodborne and will finish the whole month of March at #1.

Well good job Battlefield Hardline and Minecraft. Also just a little sad news I saw on Siliconera: SEGA will focus less on console and more on mobile.

It seems that the PlayStation and Vita are dominating this ranking with Final Fantasy and Resident Evil.

Interesting that Minecraft is now Microsoft but published by Sony in Japan.

Then again, Minecraft is globally, after the AAA titles, the best-selling franchise for both Xbox and PS. It's a juggernaut, so Sony would want to get in on some of the money.

I could speculate this based on my observation: if MS published the game in Japan, it may have flop so I can see why Sony would publish the Vita version in Japan and might explain why it sold well there. Did Minecraft gain any popularity in Japan prior to the Vita version being release there?

It's always been for the PC, so it already has its built-in audience. Sony could've dropped being the publisher once Microsoft got Minecraft, but they didn't since it's good for their bottom line.

Is it me or does it look like this one SAO game is going to generate more revenue than the entire second season combined. Crunching some numbers I get:

Lost Song
139,298 (units) x 12,000 (yen) = 1,671,576,000 yen
55,090 (units) x 6,290 (yen) = 346,516,100 yen
Total=2,018,092,100 yen or 16,872,683 USD

Vs.

Season 2

15,000 (assumed average BD unit sales given the first 5 volumes) x 9 x 6,610 (yen) = 892,350,000 (yen)
3,000 (assumed DVD average sales given the first 4 volumes) x 9 x 4,980 = 134,460,000 (yen)
Total= 1,026,810,000 (yen) or 8,583,115 USD

I don't know I've mentioned this before but the game end of these things seems the far more potentially lucrative.
