Not only that, but no one will recognize it as anything but a turquoise teddy bear unless pointed out or they stare at it for a while.

I can understand why Hatsune Miku products are so popular in Japan, but what man spends three-hundred dollars U.S. on a teddy bear? Even a virtual 2-D girlfriend would be pissed that you made that kind of purchase without telling her, which even if you did tell her, she'd still say no.

The thing is, Teddy Bear collecting is a very real and prestigious thing. Steiff is like the rolex of Teddy Bear makers.

"...But those looking forward to twintails will have to settle for other details"
Or ANY details, for that matter, besides the tie, color and logo. (It looks like a boy teddy-bear, anyway!)
Would even a leek have been too much of a hint to ask for?
It's also seems connected through Good Smile, the company that licenses Miku tie-ins for their racing merchandise, so think it was a case of German company Steiff just placating a Japanese company without any real deep knowledge of what the merchandising properties mean.

I knew there's some serious teddy bear collecting out there, and I know when there are serious collectors, there will be incredibly expensive, high-end products for those collectors, but I never really connected those dots together. It makes so much sense now. It really does.
