The next time they announce something that is related to virtual reality, they should announce like: "Full Dive system on virtual reality is now being confirmed!"

This will crash and burn like their Playstation Move and 3D gaming push.
Since how long can you wear this thing ? 1-2 hours?

Guess it's just their version of the oculus rift? Gaming will go up another notch when these things get out of the testing phases and start to be mass produced.

I'll get it once the dating sims or if a good mecha title comes out for the peripheral. I hope it gets the proper support from major genres and not just priced tech demos.

3D 2.0, perhaps?
Here's hoping Sony will actually stick behind an innovation. Too often do they hype a neat peripheral or innovation, release it, and do nothing to further to support or bolster it, like a mother bird throwing her freshly-hatched chicks out of the nest and expecting them to automatically fly.
Like 3D, technology like this is cool, but is it really necessary or warranted right now, or is it still in the gimmick phase of its existence? Or have people learned from mistakes behind 3D's push? The only time VR, like 3D, will (and should) be readily accepted is when they can remove the glasses/headgear out of the equation…

Finally we have a definite announcement for general population getting VR. This is a Huge announcement... I'd like to think they would only announce this if they were sure it was ready, and how many years have we seen "In development" VR showing up, surely progress has been made. You guys are so negative, isn't it better to hope that it's finally time. And who knows, maybe playstation move will be revived to work with this.....

Doubt Sony will drop the ball on this. The fact that they're taking their time shows they're giving ample time for there to be content by 2016.
3-D was basically an additive. It detracts from nothing, and remember that while plenty of films are in 3-D, 3-D gaming is resource heavy on the hardware.
Move was a late entry and suffered from lack of content, but looks to make a big comeback as a VR controller. Still the fracturing of every device being separate is an issue, and hopefully Sony has the sense to emphasize bundles for newcomers that include the camera and two Move controllers. An updated Move controller would also be ideal, though it would raise costs.
We so far have Oculus/Facebook, HTC/Valve, Sony with Morpheus, and reportedly even NVidia, as well as Oculus/Samsung, and more are likely entering the picture with rumors of Apple, and even perhaps Microsoft aside from their HoloLens AR.
Exciting times, but I guess 2016, rather than 2015 will be the VR year, although HTC/Valve's gear will hit the market end of this year.

Even if they produce a real life nerve gear and there is a possibility of being trapped in the game, I would still buy it. This thing is still no where near the level of the headsets in SAO though.

Yay, glad to see an update regarding Morpheus.
Also, I hope they keep the name even after it hits the market.

About time we can try this out. We've already been playing with our Oculus kit for awhile. Let's see if we can hack this one too for the PC like the Kinect.

From the picture, it looks like a protective goggle so you might need to wear contacts for it

If it's like the Oculus, it should be OK.
