Beat me to it, I believe it's Food Wars 3... Which I need to pick up as well as Assassination Classroom 2.

Has anyone gotten a TRSI shipping notice for Ben-to? I'm assuming the first shipment was extremely small or is late. I've mine ordered since May and all I have still is "on order from manufacturer" with the item page stating that more are arriving soon.

Are you me?! I literally came here for the sole reason to ask this very question... I too have had Ben-to Limited Edition on pre order since May 19th 2014. at first I thought maybe Funi was gonna delay it again, then I thought it was just being worked on till last minute, but to actually not have the product ship by street date is a first for me with rightstuf. Normally you get your item 1-4 weeks before street date... I'm confused with the whole thing and upset if it turns out they are fulfilling orders out of order.

Got this message from a live chat with a customer representative:

Your Ben-To hasn't arrived yet. We did receive some items, but not enough to fulfill all the orders we currently have.

We are hoping to have another shipment later this week.

We have experienced an unfortunate delay in the arrival of our stock of both the limited edition and standard edition of FUNimation's Ben-To, both of which were released today. After checking with FUNimation, we confirmed our stock has indeed shipped out to us and is slated to arrive later this week. We apologize for the inconvenience. We will announce and post pictures on our Facebook page when our inventory arrives.

I went to Barnes & Noble on Thursday, January 22 and they already had Assassination Classroom 2, Black Rose Alice 3, and I think Honey Blood 0 as well. Does B&N get manga in stock early, or is this a comic book store/Diamond release date?

^In my experience, B&N will put stock out ahead of street date, while Books-a-million! will not sell anything ahead of street date. So my guess it that most places get their stock ahead of time, and it up to the individual company/store policy as to whether they will honor the official release date or not.
I think it depends on the publisher how early the stock appears, too. I've observed that Viz stuff in particular is more likely to show up way ahead of time than some of the other publishers.

Probably due to the winter storms, and anime companies aren't as high on the priority list as big companies.

And clout. B&N is the biggest bookstore chain, so they can almost always do whatever. Plus, small manga companies don't have the clout to tell them what to do.

@Agent355

It has been my experience that Viz titles show up at B&N anywhere from one to two weeks before Diamond delivers to comic shops. I understand that Viz distributes through one of the big book publishers (Random House I think) and that Diamond gets their stock from the primary distributor. I'm not sure if this is B&N breaking street date, or just the delay caused by Diamond's processing.

That's kind of messed up. Dark Horse has the right idea by releasing through Diamond first so that comic book shops have the upper hand over big box chains. I love B&N, but independent shops need the business more, and getting new titles in a couple weeks ahead definitely helps.

Actually, speaking of Dark Horse, I was looking at pre-ordering info for 2 upcoming manga--Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service Vol 14 and Satoshi Kon and Mamoru Oshi's Seraphim. Both are being released via Right Stuf about 2 weeks before Amazon. Is that via their deal with Diamond, or is it a Right Stuf specific thing?
