Not sure about your source but season 2 was streaming long before January 7th (January 1st in fact).

It'd be nice if all the series were legally streaming in the USA on a non-Hulu site.

I'm tempted to go and re watch the first few seasons... and if GX is put on stop after that.

They never dubbed the last 24-25 epi. here.

I do wish that they were streaming the original Japanese version, as apparently they changed quite a bit for the dubbed version of the series. Still cool to see though; Yu-Gi-Oh is my childhood incarnate.

While not so much content was cut, aside from replacing death with "Shadow Realm", the script was really dumbed down in the 4kids dub, filled with bad puns. There are some sites devoted to comparing each episode of the original and dub, and it's just shocking how dumbed down the 4kids dub was. And the whole Heart of the Cards thing is 4kids exclusive.

I guess the dub works for nostalgia purpose, but if you want to form a more serious opinion on the show, I recommend the original. I grew up with the dub myself, but I can't go back to it after seeing the original.

Disagree, anyone who watches the dub is pretty much never going to see the end of GX or 5D's because they skipped about 50+ episodes. That's not even going through all the content cuts per episode which makes the run time about 2-4 minutes shorter than the original, or all the silly digital paint edits from nudity, weapons, and the cards themselves and completely rewriting the plot to suit their own made-up narrative.

Supposedly there's a conflict with Yugi's JP VA that doesn't allow them to distribute the original Japanese version outside of Asia. They'll hopefully pull a Digimon and put both versions in Netflix when they get to the later seasons.

It's cool to see them streaming the original Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters, but like others here I really wish it would be the original Japanese version. After comparing the two some time ago, 4Kids really butchered this series for the dub.

The worst contender is being able to find the Japanese version at all unless you know where to look. I can't find the raws anywhere, and the Japanese box sets still run for 23000 yen after 12 years of being out.

However, the North American Bonds Beyond Time Blu-Ray did come with the Japanese track which had Yugi's seiyuu present so there is still hope.

it was never confirmed, but the VA whom they had issues with was supposedly Rica Matsumoto(Bakura's second VA after the first one died. Also mostly known for voicing Ash in Pokemon)due to her being a prominent singer.

The issue with the VA sounds like an unfounded internet rumor, more so when you consider it would only affect the first series. The most likely reason is 4Kids or whoever currently owns the rights just doesn't want to release it uncut. It's not uncommon for these companies to promote only their dub.

That sounds like the whole thing with Harmony Gold holding Macross hostage while pumping out crap nobody wants with the license.
