Anyone know how I can find out what channel/station it is on here in the OKC(Oklahoma City), OK area? I tried to find out myself, but had no luck.

The 1993 version. How many versions have there been? One version of Kimba has been airing in the UK for some time now. Its shown on Life TV in a block with some religious cartoons. I havn't watched it in a while but from what I remember it was really rather rubbish. Granted I think it had been heavily edited but it didn't seem up to much anyway.

There have been a total of three versions of Kimba on TV -- the original that aired in 1966 (~50 episodes), a remake in color that aired in 1989 (~50 episodes), and a redux in 1993 (26 episodes). As I recall, the 1966 and 1989 versions skipped past a large amount of story in the original manga dealing with Kimba's parents, so I assume that the 1993 redux animates a lot of that.

There have also been a couple of movies, by the way, which complicates things somewhat if you're looking for Kimba information.

I wish I could help you out. Sad Unfortunately, I've been having the same problem. America One's website featured an affliate finder and I tried to click on my state, but nothing happened. I also checked out my local and satellite tv listings online with Zap 2 It (www.zap2it.com)-- nothing. Confused

Maybe we can either e-mail America One for the names of our local affliates or maybe we can watch it online on AO's website?

Good luck finding it!

Hi. I'm the owner of kimbawlion.com, and the Programming Director at America One was nice enough to send me a listing of all their affiliated TV stations. You can access the list in 3 ways...
sorted by City:
http://www.kimbawlion.com/City.htm
sorted by State:
http://www.kimbawlion.com/State.htm
or sorted by Metropolitan Area:
http://www.kimbawlion.com/Metro.htm

Please keep in mind that many of these are low-power stations with a very limited range, and most of the stations do not carry the entire America One programming schedule.

The same 1993 version of Kimba is also on a new cable channel called iLifeTV, so if you can't get America One, maybe you can get iLifeTV.

Good luck!

Actually, the 1993 version is the 1966 version with a new soundtrack. Copyrights being what they are, the first American dub simply is not available for licensing for broadcast, so in 1993 a Canadian team prepared a new soundtrack for the shows. Unfortunately, since 1966 TV started showing a lot more commercials, so the newer shows have a couple of minutes deleted from them. This especially hurts the first episode.

The 1993 version has been shown in Europe for 10 years; it is just making its first appearance in the US now. It'll be interesting to see how people react to it. People who grew up on the 1966 version tend to be very critical of the 1993 version, but that's pretty normal human nature --to prefer the first version you got to know.

Looks like you have a number of chances. Ch. 32 is your best bet since they carry the full America One schedule. After that, try Ch. 31, 20, 54, or 52--although that last one only carries 2.5 hours of America One's programs. (These are all broadcast channel numbers; on cable they could be changed to any other channel number.)

Hello! Thank you and America One's Programming Director for the affiliates links. Very Happy It is definitely appreciated. Do you mind if I share the links with the folks on another anime forum? Also, thank you for telling me about iLifeTV.

Unfortunately, neither of the affiliates listed for my state (TN) were close by nor were they guaranteed to carry Kimba. I'll check out iLifeTV on the web and see if I can get Kimba that way.

Thanks again! Smile

You're welcome! Please do share the links. And, if you don't want to have to post three links, just say that they can find the lists from links in the first story on my News page: http://www.kimbawlion.com/snoo.htm

The more people that visit my site, the better! Smile I have info on all the Kimba series: The first (1966), the sequel (Leo The Lion), and the re-make ("New Adventures", 1989), as well as the Symphonic Poem and the recent Jungle Emperor Leo movie. I recently restored the lost version of the first Kimba episode. The only Kimba item that remains in obscurity is the first theatrical movie.

Shocked Wow! *very impressed* I'm glad that people, like you, are preserving and restoring older films/videos so that newer viewers can watch them. Cool
