Well, this season has the studio change with some changes to the animation but I think I can deal with it. The OP song Database is really catchy and I think this season's story so far is as well.

I'm expecting major story arcs to develop soon such as a hint of what's to come at the end of the latest episode. Not sure what to think of some of the new characters yet. But yeah, I like the direction this show is taking so far.

I'm surprised they let "Demi-demi" back into the show like that, given that he did some pretty terrible things in the first season.

"how do we keep funding Akihabara when the banks don't actually work as producers of capital"

How is that a problem in the context on an MMO? Everyone who played mmo know that the problem with there economy is not where to get money, it's the insane inflation that come with a world where money is constantly being created.

It's a problem because the upkeep of the various buildings that Shiroe and co. have bought in Akihabara is ridiculously expensive (10 million gold per month) and since now it is no longer a game it is far harder to farm gold than it was before the Apocalypse.

I love the show and will continue watching, but I think it's ridiculous that the buildings went from 5mil to BUY to 10mil in "upkeep" each MONTH. It seems like the individual guild buildings weren't that expensive since each guild had their own. And even if the "core" building that Shiroe bought has that level of cost, they should just let it go, since it was mainly just bought as leverage to get the initial plan working. It just seems too "we need a reason, so this is the deal..."

The way I understood it is that the one building alone isn't 10mil in upkeep, but that they've ended up buying several core properties around the town, and all of them together add up to that much. But know knows, maybe when he "bought" it in the first season that was just paying the first month's rent.

However you look at it, it's too big of a gold sink and the Round Table can't keep up with it, thus Shiroe out looking for a longterm fix. I think this is another case where something that worked as a game (a means of preventing economic inflation) have turned into a big pain now that it's not(?) a game anymore.

Actually the value seems to be entirely standardized worldwide in Elder Tales even amongst the people of the land, and while the money appears out of nowhere it also disappears back to nowhere when you pay it to, well, "system functions" would be what you'd call them when it was a game. Like rent/maintenance fees for a zone, death penalties, etc.

It is possible that all this cash going back and forth between the "upper" world economy and the theoretical whirlpool of gold they're looking for in this raid appears and disappears at rates that just happens to keep the gold value stabilized. Or the people of the land just don't do economics well and never noticed that the gold value ought to be changing. Of course, player stores probably inflate prices accordingly, but hey they're human.

There's also more stuff to spend money on given that they aren't stuck spending money strictly as game mechanics allow them to. It makes sense that the economy wouldn't behave exactly like an mmo economy when all the characters have to essentially treat playing this mmo like it's their job.

But then again there playing a system that was balanced around playing a few hour per week and now there literally playing it for 14-16 hour a day (assuming they sleep 10-8 hour), so wouldn't money be plentiful since they can treat playing the game as there job.

Just look at the bills they're running for the guild hall alone.

I doubt money is being generated all that quickly even if they work it like it's their job. Considering the town is going bankrupt.

but it should have a little more confidence in its audience!

To be fair, Log Horizon airs on what is basically Japanese PBS and is aimed at like 12-year-olds.

Not every kid's show can be Princess Tutu!

I don't really mind all the redundant character-exposition, because characters like Akatsuki and Lennessia are in desperate need of some development and I'll take what I can get.

Did we really need an entire episode of Akatsuki pining for Shiroe?

It seems to be standard for LN that the protagonist just needs to have several females chasing after him, but does it really have to be so awkward and...unhealthy?! If there has to be romance, give me more Naotsugos and Maries at the very least least, now that's a relationship i can get behind...

I just want to add that it was nice to see a character in an anime acknowledge a romantic pairing was one-sided and wasn't going to happen (even if it did seem like the most natural of Shiroe's pseudo-harem).
