It's weird to see both Madman and Hanabee streaming the series here in Australia. Is one going to be getting it earlier than the other or will it just be down to which site you wish to use to watch it?

So Hanabee hold the rights to release the series and Madman have the rights to stream it but Hanabee also has the rights to stream it as well? On top of that, Madman are also now streaming shows that they don't have home video rights to? Damn, just trying to understand how this all works is making my head hurt.
Also I can't help but notice that Hanabee aren't doing anything to promote the series being on Animelab. So unlike the Siren Visual partnership I don't think this is a mutual agreement. I'm guessing that Madman probably tried to pick up the show themselves and failed but still managed to get streaming rights. As ridiculous as this situation is it is the biggest show this season by a mile so I guess I can sort of understand why this is happening. Still, it must suck for Madman. This show is going to make Hanabee a fair amount of money. Then again I'm actually kind of glad Hanabee has it because they're much more likely to do some sort of special edition as opposed to Madman's method of releasing it in barebones Blu-ray collections with a glorified cardboard box and some crappy art cards. |

Well, it isn't surprising that Hanabee wouldn't be promoting another company's streaming service when they have their own, unlike Siren. Unsure if it means that there is a problem between the two. Considering there's no ads or Paid memberships I'm guessing they don't make money off of the streaming service. If the only purpose is to get people interested in the shows I suppose it doesn't really matter which service they use.
I'm watching it on Crunchyroll since there's no one week delay but hey I'm still gonna buy the show no matter what. |

I tried to simplify the situation, but apparently a paragraph wasn't enough. Basically Hanabee have both physical and digital rights, Madman has digital rights. It's not that surprising when Madman has AnimeLab and it's great to see that Hanabee knows that as long as the fan can watch the show where they want it's all good, we all win.
You have seen the AOT collections right? I'm personally surprised we got a collection that nice. As AU is a small market and margins have become tougher we have tended to receive less in the way of cool pack-ins. Even the US doesn't do as well for the price we tend to get releases for here. I should probably sit down and do a direct comparison again, we're in a good set of releases ATM for that one. |
