Honestly, despite this being a popularity contest, I would genuinely agree that, as far as shonen anime, One Piece will make a shed a tear or two. The farewell of Going Merry was one of the saddest moments in shonen anime ever. And it's just goes to show how amazing of a writer Oda is if he makes you care and cry for freakin ship.

And the the Drum Island Arc... man... that was sad from start to finish. I'm surprised there was no mention of Ace's death, that was actually quite heartbreaking, especially how Luffy reacted to it all.

I've honestly never cried when reading a manga, like reader asked in this poll, I have a heart of freakin steel! Cool

Japanese women were polled about manga that made them cry, and Gintama wasn't one of the top choices? I am legitimately shocked.

If I had my pick Tokyo Ghoul would`ve been it tbh. But I`m still happy to see the Rose of Versailles there too.

Not surprised One Piece would rank first in something like this. Oda is a phenomenal writer. He is always trying (and succeeding) to reduce you to tears. He's at it again now with Laws past. No mention of Robins past by any voters though? Hands down the saddest thing I've seen in manga or anime.

If I remember correctly, even Oda himself had a hard time getting through the Merry scene when he was writing it.

The ending to the final game in slam dunk made me cry. It was damn beautiful. I'm not surprised that I'm not alone.

Best piece of basketball fiction ever told. That was a really powerful story all the way through.

I'd also throw the end of Code Geass. Not so much for the death itself, but Nunnaly being forced to watch Lelouch die in her arms.

Only manga I remember crying at is Fruits Basket. Soecifically the scenes of Tohru conforting Kisa and Yuki remembering his meeting with Tohru in their childhood.

It's not as easy to cry at manga as it is at anime.

Hm... Legend of the Galactic Heroes, Rurouni Kenshin: Tsuiokuhen, Hokuto no Ken (manga), JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. Fate/Zero and One Piece were a close call.

I know that such a topic is probably too subjective for a popularity poll, but I'm surprised a KyoAni work wasn't listed as an honorable mention (unless we're talking specifically manga here? :S). Clannad After Story certainly made me bawl like anything.
edit: Ok nvm, this is a manga-only poll, just double checked.

But my personal favourite crying moments (in the sense that they were cathartic) in any series are when spoiler[Kazehaya&co to sit next to Sawako as part of the new seating plan] in Kimi ni Todoke, and the manga Watashitachi no Shiawase na Jikan.
