American. Police.

Is the sheer stupidity of their actions any more clear?

Barricade was a Mustang in that movie. Though, I guess that would've only made things worse, since it's not a leap to think the police would use Ford vehicles. A Maserati on the other hand ...

The owner offered that he was actually assisting police “because other drivers noticed him and slowed down, thinking it was a police vehicle.”

Why there are no pictures in the article of the police car model the purported perp was arrested for impersonating?

So, is it just TOO obvious to make the joke that he should've been arrested anyway for being a fan of Michael Bay?

The car doesn't even have police lights on top of it!

From the distance it does look like a cop car.

Unless he was wearing a police uniform, his car is clearly not a official police car. Will probably be thrown out in court, but it is a waste of government money.

Neither do a lot of newer police cars, at least where I'm at.

Mhh, I have not seen the movie where said car supposedly appears and I admit I can't recognize brands or models of most carmakers, but from what I gather from google if it does not clearly has the words POLICE (or similar emblem, like NYPD or SHERIFF) and the red and blue lights on top, thinking it is a police car is a mistake due to incomplete observation.

Apparently to some people it was. That's enough evidence really. If general population will think it's a police car, then it is too similar.
