Shouldn't it be rank #1 for the second time? |

What a great movie! I gotta tell you, Disney's been through a winning streak, first they make a return (although short lived) to hand-drawn animation with The Princess and the Frog (and the 2011 Winnie the Pooh film), then they release Tangled, then the video game-centered Wreck-it Ralph, now Frozen. Lasseter and the Pixar brain trust have done a fantastic job revitalizing Disney after a series of failures, not to mention the Disney Channel's then-popular (not to mention overrated) Hannah Montana and High School Musical started to get people into thinking Disney was changing its whole business model to targeting teenyboppers; but we know it's only the Disney Channel that did that.
Frozen has a really fantastic story, it has a lot of memorable characters as well, and spoiler[the prince isn't really prince charming, but rather a backstabbing jerk like Gaston from Beauty and the Beast.] I totally recommend this movie. |

Kinda surprised that record stood for that long. This week's Top 20 of Japan Billboard Hot 100 (2014/05/12) has Frozen songs at #19, #10, #8, and #2. |

You got an odd definition of winning streak
Yep, wouldn't want people thinking Disney was all about selling musical inserts in show and movies to young audiences now |

Well, my point in that was both Hannah Montana and High School Musical were for no one but teenyboppers, and that's basically what Disney Channel's aim is nowadays (which to me is ridiculous). Thanks to those two shows, the Disney Channel sucks now, and it's giving the entire company a bad name. |

^Hey, don't be dissin' the channel that airs Gravity Falls (and ordered another season of it)!
I don't think it's ridiculous to market towards middle class tweens at all. It's a great age group to make money off of, and it's pretty easy. Kids love programming and music designed for them. Disney develops singing and acting talent in a cloning factory on site. Saves on costs. |

It's called Disney Channel for a reason. It should be airing classic and new Disney movies, and of course Walt Disney's classic library of cartoons, not try to compete with Nickelodeon of all channels. If Disney Channel wanted to compete with Nick, they could have done it under a different name. Here's a promo from 1987, when the so-called "Disney" Channel actually lived up to its name. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3xRmp13sxiw |

Don't act like Disney is somehow above competition. I remember their afternoon cartoon blocks, definitely something to compete with Nick's.

Even back then there were apparently lots of live action shows on Disney Channel, so what's the problem? You say it's for Disney shows and movies, but Hannah Montana is no less a Disney character than Davey Crockett. She was created by Disney, after all.
Hannah Montana's old news anyway. Kinda miss that show, it was like Jem for the modern era. But overall I prefer Nickeloden's shows in general. Dan Schneider just has a gift for making those shows more interesting shall we say I can kinda see why Disney stuff does well in Japan though. Cute girls, musical songs.. sounds kinda familiar, ya know? Disney's also one of the last animated movie makers who attempt to resit making them talking animals who make pop culture references and cling to the old ways of animation. Just wish they'd stop making annoying mascots like that snowman and stop making the promos look like it''s all about said annoying mascot |

N. America got these trailers too (including scenes that didn't make it to the movie): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TbQm5doF_Uc (Albeit many also thought Olaf is the best thing in the movie, so what can ya do?) Though Europe also got these trailers: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zxwwjnguOGg The first full trailer actually came out in Japan (ironic that Japan got the movie last): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pRJv1K28quE |

Epic and Frozen were polar opposites in terms of advertising and reality. Epic's trailer made it seem to have more integrity and wonder, and you wound up with snails. Frozen's made it seem like it'd be nothing but the mascots goofing off, like a Shrek movie.
