At the very least it can't be worse than that 2nd Power Rangers movie Turbo, right? Anime hyper

I was under the impression Saban wasn't in very good financial situation. Or at least their Power Rangers department. Super Megaforce's budget is laughable, but maybe that's because it's not the original series which seems to always get preferential treatment from them. I guess they're just banking on nostalgia though

The biggest issue is how the hell do you reboot a franchise that relies mostly on stock Japanese footage? Just reuse it? Use unused Zyuranger footage? Doubtful, given it's 20 years old and would look very outdated next to modern footage. Wonder how they'll pull this off.

First one was worse, I'd say. At least they had accurate costumes in Turbo. The first movie tried way too hard to superheroize the franchise. Giving them a more muscular, armored outfits, and giving them chest symbols of their coins in the vein of trying to make them look like a superhero chest icon. Even their mech looked completely different. They pretty much abandoned everything about the TV series.

Ivan Ooze was fun, though. Actually, I'd say he absolved any and every sin the movie committed.

Moving on, this is clearly a nostalgia cash-grab. Presumably that huge Zordon-era set sold well for them.

I wonder if they're gonna try to homage "higher ground" as close as possible. A dream come true would be getting either another band to do the same song or R.h.c.p once again.
I'm also curious if they're just gonna remove Dulcea all together or dress her up as much as humanly possible. Rolling Eyes

I'm intrigued by this...They are planning on bringing the original actors back? They would be quite old to do this wouldn't they? Might Morphin' was a while ago after all.

Only Jason David Frank can be the White Ranger.
There is no other option.

Even with that, though, the original Yellow Ranger is kaput, and JYB is now one of the biggest names in anime.

For starters... wow! I doubt anyone would have thought this would happen...
I didn't even realize Power Rangers was still even that popular.

As in the original american cast (or some)? Really?!
I'm torn between being highly skeptical (It's probably just a few of the old Rangers somehow helping out the newer ones or whoever is the Rangers now, which is just totally cliché and lame) and having the kid inside me who LOVED this show being absolutely thrilled!

Seriously seems like strange timing, and yet at the same time with Godzilla and others stuff coming out (Godzilla hitting you with a nostalgia kinda sense and things like Marvel making super hero films possible) maybe it is good timing...
Still don't know what to think of it.

Psh, I might actually see it Laughing ! Hell, it could actually be pretty damn awesome!
I'm kinda getting excited now Smile !
Granted, dunno what in the hell was/is going on that this is even being done but, I dunno, it'd be interesting to see what comes of it.
(Hopefully not a direct to DVD kinda thing tho...)

...

And yeah, Ivan Ooze was prettykick-ass as far as PRs villains go Smile !

Only Yellow Ranger that I know of... And Rita Repulsa I think... That's all I know of.

Saban burned way too many bridges with the old actors for that to happen, just look at Super Megaforce's pitiful roster of returning actors. David Yost voiced his abandonment of everything to do with the franchise. Thuy Trang passed away. The rest probably wouldn't bother either given how they were treated with the exception of Jason David Frank.

Besides, they'd only get cameos at best. They're way too old to pass off as teenagers. Even back then they looked too old.

The original Japanese actress who played Bandora in the stock footage they dubbed over passed away, but the actress they switched her with during season 2 once they started using more original footage is still alive.

The only member I see going for this movie is Jason David Frank - the Green Ranger.

The rest of the cast have gone their separate ways.

Austin St. John (Red Ranger) is a EMT paramedic.

David Yost (Blue Ranger) is a producer in Hollywood.

Amy Jo Johnson (Pink Ranger) has her own acting career on TV shows.

Walter Jones (Black Ranger) hasn't stared in any major shows.

Thuy Trang (Yellow Ranger) had passed away in a car accident a long time ago.

Johnny Yong Bosch came back and did an episode in a......"recent" Power Ranger series though. Operation Overdrive. Along with a few other cast from older series. And I'm pretty sure he was also doing voice acting at the time too (In general). I feel like he still had some power ranger spunk in him. The episodes is called "Once a Ranger" if anyone is wondering.

But yeah. I don't think they're gonna get all of the original cast. You know, Jason, Trini, and Zack. I think they're gonna get the cast that did the Ivan Ooze movie. Rocky, Adam and Aisha. (I didn't mention Tommy, Kimberly and Billy cause weren't they always there from the start?)

Regardless, it's not gonna be Power Ranger without Bulk and Skull (and I guess Skull's nephew Spike. At least I think that was his name).
