It would be interesting to see if these two series are related. Some of the technology used in Mahouka could lead towards creating "dolls". I'll avoid spoilers though.

It worries me to see him spreading his resources :/
I'd much much -MUCH- rather have more frequent releases of Mahouka than a new series.

Well, I hope he becomes the new Kamachi personally. I enjoy the depth of world building he does and would like to see more of it.

Too true. Both of them have such interesting, believable worlds and magic/science systems.
As long as he doesn't get as loli-fetishy as Kamichi (I mean I don't mind a story having a loli or two, but Jesus Christ Kamichi, chill)

Sucks the LN industry is terribly niche in the West, cause I think this is definitely the kind of story I'd read. Unless this gets an anime adaption so popular the LN gets localized who knows when I'll get to read it (though there's still the possible anime about a couple years later if this ends up being popular too).

And yet with all those............ it's still set in high school. The whole solar system and the future to play with.......... It's like they can't write anything without a high school in it.

It's relateable to the target audience, easy to work with, and enjoyable if done decently.

I hope Satō got better at writing. Hopefully the MC isn't a hilariously broken Gary Stu like Tatsuya, because Satō has great worlds but bad plotting. Also he does not know the meaning of Show, Don't Tell.

"I said lots of buzzwords in a row therefore it's crap"
Seriously, am I the only person sick of hearing Gary Stu every time a protag isn't a spineless loser?

Tatsuya being a gary stu has nothing to do with him not being a "spineless loser" and the fact that you think it does shows you have zero clue of what you're talking about.
But it does have to do with how he is hilariously broken in his powers, how he has nearly every woman in the series gravitating around his dick, how the story does nothing but wax poetical about how awesome he is, and other shit as well.
I am reading the LN's. This is how Mahouka works:
>"You see Miyuki, I've completed that powerful magic spell that nobody is able to perform. It took me two days but it was worth it. Now, by dual-wielding my two custom CADs I can take on Goku with my right hand and Superman with my left."
>"Oniisama~ You're the best~ Hold me and pat hy head~"
>Tatsuya could feel something weird within Miyuki. Her complexion was slightly flushed, her breathing a little ragged, and the humidity level 20 % higher than usual. She was probably sick.
>He knew it thanks to his accute perceptive abilities. He was able to detect Solid Snake in a cardboard factory because [cue three pages long explanation on MAGIC PHYSICS]

Chagen, you don't need to go into every single thread about Mahouka to sling mud at it. Enough already.

i'm sorry, but while i do think that Tatsuya is a gary stu (if one with an actual personality, goals, and actual limitations to offset his OPness, he can't use most magic for a damn, just his decomposition and his healing) he doesn't have every girl in the series gravitating towards wanting to screw him. if anything there is 3 that you can say that want too. Honoka, Miyuki and Angelina. potential for a 4th in Mayumi, but frankly we don't know the depth of her interest in him. there is a whole flock of other girls in the series that have OTHER relationship interests whose only interest in Tatsuya is limited to friendship and his "secrets". so no. it is not "nearly every woman in the series", as you put it. it is not even close to that.

Will follow this to see how it turns out. Irregular was interestingly different, a fair bit more introspective than most light novels. Hence so far it has translated into a fairly boring anime. I did always find their choice to animate this odd ever since they announced it.
There are certainly a number of plotting mistakes that Satou makes, particularly in explaining a lot but not really explaining anything, and then suddenly adding a twist later that makes it irrelevant anyway.
If he tightens his plots he could turn out something very good.
