There's not really as much of a difference between Saint Seiya, Mononoke and YuGiOh as you seem to think there is. While the YGO TV series DVDs may have been dub-only, you have to consider the fact that it, like all series 4Kids touched, was heavily edited. Even if they wanted to, making the release bilingual would've required a 2nd, uncut video track which would've basically doubled the disc count. Coupled with the fact that no-one is really all that nostalgic for Japanese YGO, and the poor sales of the previous uncut DVDs, a bilingual release just wasn't worth the time, money, or effort no matter how you look at it.

Having said that, a movie is a bit different, since both versions could easily be fit on one disc, and as far as I know none of the European YGO DVDs were bilingual either, yet they included the Japanese audio with this movie regardless. Lack of dub on the TV show sets isn't a solid indication of what they'll do for the movie.

We already know Cinedigm/New Video Group is willing to do subs based on their forthcoming Seiya and Mononoke releases, who's to say they won't do it for this one too? Would I be surprised if they don't bother with the JP audio? No, but I think the possibility is there, however small it may be. We'll just have to wait for more details to be released and see.

Just to chime in on there, I believe another issue with the release of the uncut version of Yu-Gi-Oh! (and all the other 4Kids properties) from what I recall from an email my friend got from them, was 4kids couldn't justify the costs for producing an uncut dub and also felt doing subtitle only DVD releases would not fully reach out to the full market they intended to.

Mind you the market has changed since then, since this was back in 2005 and with them being under new management (under 4K Media), it's possible a subtitle only release can happen.

cinedigm's listed Mononoke, and that show has no dub. Beside, from up on poppy hill has both dub and sub. I'm pretty sure Letter To Momo and Princess Kaguya will have subs as well. I wonder how this will end up.

Don't feed the trolls.

Report them, and it'll be taken care of.

Also, watch the over-quoting.

unfortunately no one especially me will be interesting in this movie unless they do a brand new english dub and replace that crappy ass 4kids version, or actually release it with the entire japaneese script intact and unedited & with official subs.

I wouldn't say that's entirely true. There obviously is a market for the edited only releases like Yu-Gi-Oh! and Digimon, partially due to nostalgia. I'd also say it could extend to this movie, because people are familiar with the voice work of the previous series would probably prefer to watch it with the dub.

Now as for the release of the movie, while it hasn't been confirmed that our release will do the same, the European release of the movie did include both the Dub and Japanese version with subtitles. I'd probably say we have a good chance of it being bilingual, but I'll try and get an answer from the Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Page when they announce it on their end.

For the record, if it's released with both versions, they'll probably do two video tracks on the same disc, much like how the European release was. This is partially due to the fact the alterations made to the footage (which is pretty much just the cards), including the logo alteration at the beginning conflicting with the run time of the Japanese version. So it'll probably not be possible to switch audio tracks on the fly as a result.

Cinedigm is becoming my favorite company.

I loved them for doing Digimon, I loved them for getting Yu-Gi-Oh!, and now the film?

Having it subbed would be a bonus!

I confess I didn't even know that it never got a US release, to be honest.

I'm honestly not sure what a subbed release of this film will really prove though. Yu-Gi-Oh! is still widely considered to be a kids property over here and releasing a subbed version doesn't really make a whole lot of sense unless there is a chance of an uncut TV release happening soon. I don't know how it is in the UK but kids in the U.S. won't bother watching a movie that is subbed.

Over-quoting is a non-issue on any forum. If you don't like it, don't look at the quote boxes. Stop making a mountain out of a molehill, Tony.

P.S. Your Judge Dredd neither impresses nor intimidates anyone around here.

It's been officially announced, and that rude person is going to cry:

Yu-Gi-Oh! Bonds Beyond Time is coming to DVD and Blu Ray in the US on July 15th!

- The Blu Ray and DVD include both the English and original Japanese versions.

- Both include the 10 minute flashback as bonus.

Stay tuned for more details!

Yeah, I was actually going to post that.

I am curious though whether or not his email held any grounds. It probably did, but the person responsible may have not had a definitive answer in that regard or wasn't entirely sure what the higher ups were planning for the release.

Either way, I'm really excited for this release, especially with the confirmation of the Japanese version being included.

Since it has the Japanese version, it's an instant buy for me. (Too bad there probably won't be any Japanese cast-related extras, but I'm just thankful for the original language track at this point...)

Thats really awesome news. Finally, Yugioh in HD!
And with japanese. Now i wonder if theyll pack in a yugioh card like they did with the first movie and uk release. Although that may just be a bit too greedy. That said, malefics were the monsters in this movie, right? Kinda outdated now.

The only downside is it won't have the 3D option.
