Neat! I don't really want to play it on an iPad though (release it on Wii U/3DS Virtual Console ya dummies!) but I will buy it just to show interest in future ports.

I'm a wee bit disappointed. I mean it is nice that it is finally coming out officially in English. But for reals it would be super nice if it was something more substantial then just iOS.
Hopefully it will come out on other systems. I would really like to see it release on the 3DS estore. But if it came out on Android I'd play it.

Me as well. I'm not a fan of Apple at all but an Android release would be great.

I agree with you 100%, but there isn't a localized GBA/SNES version to put on the eshop, unless you were hoping for Nintendo to start up an unlocalized "import" section like Sony has for PS1 titles. But that wouldn't do most of us any good.
At this point it was basically iOS or nothing. Its not like Atlus USA had many options to choose from anyways... PS1, GBA, SNES, SegaCD, or iOS. Only one of those is "current" hardware.

Uh... you do know that not all the games on the eShop are Virtual Console or downloadable retail games, right?

Hopefully there will be an Android version, but if that doesn't happen you could always just play the fan translated ROM with a SNES emulator. As for me, this will be a day one purchase when it comes out on iOS.

This is disappointing, because no matter how good the iOS game, I never can really get interested in it. I've tried playing multiple console-style RPGs on it, but the touch screen controls suck the fun out of anything more than a casual game for me.
Really hope this gets released somewhere else. Like maybe Steam. Or PSN. Or the eShop. Heck, if it comes out on Andriod, I might go out and buy an Ouya for this.

Considering this is fully turn-based, complaining about touch controls seems a bit silly. Turn-based games are one of the few types of games that actually work well with touch controls.

Probably way cheaper to put this on ios then any other service. Plus touch controls are ok for a jrpg like this.
Anyway this is the PS1 version of the game. So thats cool.

Of course I do. Heck, I, like most others, would prefer to play this on my 3DS rather than my phone. But there's one huge problem with your logic: a proper 3DS port of SMT1 does not exist. That obviously has to happen on the Japan side first before Atlus USA could even think about releasing it on the 3DS.
Remember, Atlus USA doesn't make games, they just localize and publish. So what did they do? They localized the only existing port of the game available on current hardware (besides the Android version, which it doesn't seem we're getting).

It's actually the GBA version of the game.
Now we just need an android version so I can actually support this game.

Being an SMT fan, I can't wait to get my hands on this version.
Also, just a really nitpicky typo note:
Quote: | The release will mark the first time the series has been localized into English. |
Shouldn't that read "The release will mark the first time the game has been localized into English"? The mainstream SMT series has been localized since Shin Megami Tensei 3: Nocturne. It's just the first two games in the main line that were never localized.

Is it? I thought it looked a little different then the SNES rom I've played.
3DS is suppose to get GBA emulation support at some point!

Yeah people are saying its GBA with PSX music. Too many ports of this game, too confusing.
