Ugh, really? Not even lesser quality up-to-date streams? And here I was thinking I was actually going to follow Funimation-streamed shows for once this season.... I don't plan on holding a subscription to anymore streaming services in the near future.

Kinda sucks, considering I already subscribe to a lot of monthly things (Netflix, Neon Alley, CR but I pay that yearly), and other than simulcasts I wouldnt have much need for an elite subscription (since I buy most funimation titles Im interested in).

I was fine watching ads and SD quality if it meant I got to watch my simulcasts free and still support the company. I was actually really liking Noragami, and I wanna check out Inari Kon Kon.

Might have to sleep on it, whether I get an EVS account or not

Nice gift for all USA citizens, nice reward for your support from one of your beloved USA anime companies.

And this very site and media companies complain that sharers are bringing in the doomsday...

And as always, who does this actually hurt? sharers? Ah, no, forgot to use a more evil sounding and harsher word...let me rephrase it: evil pirates or so called legitimate consumers? Laughing

I think this a dumb move. Funimation is temping its non elite subscribers to go the illegal route. I was under the impression that Funimation relied on stream numbers to measure interest in potential home video releases.

I will still watch the delay cast of Noragami because I am liking the show, and I do not feel comfortable pirating what is available through legal streams.

Isn't this the exact same model Crunchyroll uses? So what's with the complaints?

Perhaps the additional $7.95/month for a small amount (or even just one or two titles) of content compared to Crunchyroll? Yes, they gain access to nearly all of FUNimation's library subbed and dubbed, but those against it are likely the ones looking forward to the simulcast rather than the other thousands of episodes that will be available to them.

I don't know. It's unfortunate for those unable or unwilling to pay for a simulcast, but I don't see the huge deal either. If viewers are already looking to illegal streams and downloads to get simulcasts of Crunchyroll shows, then it probably won't be a great loss to FUNimation. As for those who do already pay for other services, it's probably just the additional cost that turns them away.

It's the Crunchyroll model, people are just unhappy with it because Funimation hadn't done it in the past. I need to get another Elite subscription because I like watching English dubs without having to buy a lot of DVDs.

Yeah. Funi has uncensored streams too. Not going to pay for both CR and Funi. I signed up for a trial we'll see which ones better.

I'm a touched miffed that I have to get Elite before I was planning to, but nothing I can't deal with. Back to watching Case Closed I guess.

Be careful with that Funimation free trial thing. I did the 14 day one in December and then tried to cancel at like 13 days. I cancelled it multiple times, received confirmation it was cancelled but everytime I logged in it still said I was a subscriber so I kept cancelling. After the 14 days, I got charged the $7.95. I contacted support and they cancelled my subscription and refunded my money but then at the beginning of January I got charged $7.95 AGAIN. I'm still trying to get my money back. So far all I've gotten is an email saying that my subscription was cancelled and I don't see where my money was refunded. It's very frustrating.

I definitely prefer CR to Funi.

If you paid with PayPal you have to make sure that the automatic payments for Funimation are turned off. For credit cards, I don't know.

I guess it also came without warning. Maybe it wouldn't have caused as big of a negative reaction is FUNimation started this some time before a new season. But the season barely just started, so I don't see it as a big issue.

Didn't The Anime Network, during its last true simulcast, limit all episodes except for the first one or two to subscribers? Could have sworn that I could not watch any more episodes of Busou Shinki while being just a registered member while the show was airing. The episodes are freely available now though.
