I wonder if they'll get someone that is actually capable of acting. In general, Japanese acting feels pretty underwhelming because of their overreliance on using popular singers or models, but the non-Japanese actors that they cast are generally abysmal even compared to them.

That's 'cause it seems all their J-pop celebrities try their hand at singing or modeling at some point. Can't just be one it has to be the other too. Laughing

So the question is: will the foreign lead be non-Asian? If the foreign lead is a K-pop star, I wouldn't be surprised since this is becoming more common like this for example and this one.

The wife of Taketsuru Masataka was a Caucasian (Scotswoman Jessie Roberta 'Rita' Cowan). Not a Korean.
American actress Charlotte Kate Fox, whose grandmother is Scotswoman, is cast in the role of the wife of Kameyama Masaharu in the TV drama. Kameyama Masaharu is a character in the TV drama who is modelled on Taketsuru Masataka.
