Oldboy actually opens wide tomorrow, November 27th. Was the October release just a limited one?

Well that's an interesting revelation. Thanks for putting that up, ANN.

No, ANN actually reported that it was pushed back: animenewsnetwork.com/news/2013-07-29/spike-lee-oldboy-slated-for-thanksgiving-weekend |

It's getting a semi-limited release, actually, because they know they can't beat Hunger Games 2 and Frozen.

And apparently rightly so, since people are enjoying Catching Fire better than the first film and Frozen is apparently the best Disney musical since the early 90s. Meanwhile, Oldboy seems split in opinion, and will probably be dropped out of theaters in two weeks to make way for the Hobbit and other December releases.

Not too shocking. I think a lot of people that make indie films can respect Spike Lee for doing his thing and never pulling punches for a studio on his early works, no matter how uncomfortable the subject matter might make the bulk of the population.

Oldboy 3.0 sucks. Don't bother.
