I forgot this was even a thing. I almost wouln't mind throwing down the money for it since my wii is being used as a netflix box by the family. Lack of Gamecube compatibility is a drawback for me though.

I'm not sure that the Wii Mini will even come close to selling as well as the WiiU, factoring that it has no backwards compatability for Gamecube titles...

Why would GC bc matter? The Wii U can't play (physical) GC games either. And I doubt most people even cared that the Wii played GC games in the first place/ Besides, this is for people who wouldn't even care about GC anyway. The same people who probably don't care about the Wii U.

And the Wii U is not selling well at all.

That answers your question right there.

Are you trying to imply that GC is some extreme selling point and thats why the WiiU is bombing, because it lacks BC?

Because the above post The post above me is implying it won't sell as well as the Wii U because it lacks GC BC which the Wii U doesn't have either. The GC was hardly ever a strong selling point for the Wii and this product for how cheap it is is aimed primarily on people who probably don't even care about the Cube.

It's cheap. It's for casuals. It could easily outsell the Wii U.

Remember folks, this thing doesn't have Internet Connectivity either. So no Netflix, or VC.

On the Gamecube compatablility debate, the fact that the Wii was backward compatable with the Cube was a major selling point to me. (also being able to use GCN controllers for Smash Bros Brawl)

That being said, the current version of the Wii hardware for the last couple of years has lacked the Gamecube backward compatablility already (no controller ports either) so its clear Gamecube compatibility is no longer a factor anyway.

And it won't outsell the Wii U. The same way the NES Mini, the SNES Mini, and the Gameboy Mini never outsold their next gen counterparts.

Though it may become highly collectible like those others did. Because its production numbers will be small, and it won't be produced for very long.

If I understand it correctly, it's a Wii console, so it can't play Wii U games, and can't play gamecube games either? I...really don't see the point, considering you can buy used Wii consoles for 80 dollars or less.
I guess making it easily portable is a plus, but a lot of Wii games make you wave the nun chuck around like a maniac, so you still need to set it up in an open area.

This thing can not get on the net at all so no wii virutal console games, netflix, fix for skyward sword etc. Also it lacks supports for the wii-classic controller that's why there is no use of selling this pos.

Sounds exactly what the Wii was for a great many of it's userbase. I'm talking about people who just want Just Dance and Wii sports.

Really at $99 this is basically perfect for those or kids who don't care about any of those things you're talking about.

Was the Skyward Sword patch a firmware patch? If so it'll probably come with the latest firmware update.

I know this is nitpicky, but the original Wii has been discontinued in Japan and Europe but is still in production in the US.

The original Wii is still on sale in the United States, but the actual production of more Wiis has ended worldwide.

Then get a used wii for 50 dollars at game-stop which is half the price, or pick up the blast from the bundle online only for 80 dollars with 6 games.

@MR Adventure well it fixes a problem with corrupt save files that the wii caused along with some issues with the game. The patch it's self for the game, it's not a firm-ware update. Also keep in mind you can't even update the firmware on this device so hopefully it's shipped with latest version installed.

.
And you should.

But thats not going to appear in Walmart adds with the phrases "New Wii" and "only $99". Adds that you're average person will see on their way for xmas shopping. And thats who this will be sold to and it will sell to them. I'm not sure whats hard to understand about this.
