Urgh, I personally hated this filler arc.

However, I find the canon episodes following some of the best ones.

The Ichigo vs Ulquiorra fight is a highlight.

So, if I understand this correctly:

12 episodes total
10 filler
01 recap
01 main story episode

If all I care about is the main storyline (which is the case), then I'd be buying this release in order to watch one (1), ONE episode? Uh... yeah... I'll pass. Maybe someone can come by and do a DBZ Kai on Bleach someday. That would sure be nice.

On a musical level, I largely prefer Anima Rossa to chAngE, and Porno Graffiti to miwa. As for the animation quality of the openings, they're roughly the same, with chAngE of course being more interesting visually because of the manga material. I'm sort of leaning towards the opinion that Aqua Timez is the de facto band for the series, as they've done so many themes.

I really wish Viz hadn't broken up the ordering of the series from its original 16 arcs. But, they do, and we get these 12-episode sets. The only arc that was this short was the Turn Back the Pendulum storyline, and THAT, I wouldn't mind sticking at the end of the previous arc or beginning of the next arc.

Slightly annoying that the omakes are not connected to the episodes themselves.

Hanemaru's Zanpakuto, which has not previously been seen, is a bit amusing,

It took me a while to figure out who you were talking about, but I suppose you meant Hanatarou?

I generally disagree with the review; with few exceptions, I think the Sword Beast mini-arc is the lowest part of Bleach anime. The major Zanpakutou arc was definitely the best filler-wise, but the completely inconsequential monster-of-the-week follow-up was atrocious to watch. The rogue Zanpakutos didn't even have anything remotely like a distinctive or imaginative design. The only good episode was the one with Kazeshini babysitting an abandoned baby. It's a complete shame that a magnificent cover like this one was wasted in such a trashy set of episodes

Bleach is the only long-running Shounen Jump adaptation I can think of that has multiple arcs which are not only non-canon to the original manga, but even non-canon to the rest of the anime. You can debate who deserves the most blame for that ridiculousness, but there's certainly plenty to go around. As it stands, this set of episodes after the conclusion of the arc proper were essentially completely pointless, even if most of them weren't abjectly terrible.

Yea. i think he mean the comedy filler character along with Gangu in the rescue arc. though that thing was more like weird than amusing. though the most bizzare one was the manifestation of Ashi Soji Jizo. that thing was creepy.

and i am not suprised at all no one liked the sword fiend arc, of all the filler archs it was the weakest along with the Amagi arc. the storyline for the rebellion arc and this arc would have been given a better plot if it was cannon. Especially if it mean seeing the manifestation for Kenpachi's sword.
