Ambiguous news in the best of light, the tomb stone for the way we recognized several franchises if worst case scenario occurs.

Worst case is likely to occur based on their PSO2 track record.

Atlus has been killing its own franchise anyway, so I don't see the big deal. Persona has skipped an entire generation of consoles, after having 2 games a piece on the ps1 and ps2 respective. All we got was some half assed region blocked fighter.

Shin Megami was relegated to a handheld. Then we got some ports, and the only really original title while having a great story, was a puzzle and block game in Catherine.

Atlus is a shell of its ps1/ps2 glory days. Sega is also a shell of its former glory, so they kind of go hand in hand.

A little concerned about what may happen to SMT x Fire Emblem. Sure, it's a weird crossover, but I'm a little curious about it.

Clam down. Atlus rocks, it has not killed anything, and on the contrary has developed and localized so many amazing titles, so muh love to fans form Atlus.

Are you aware of how long SMT and its spin offs take to be released?, for track record. Persona 2 EP was released in 2000, Persona 3 was released until 2006!! Effectively when past gen was dying, and Persona 4 was released until 2008, once the 360 and ps3 were well established. See the pattern?

From SMTII to SMTIII it took 10 years, the same it took from SMTIII to SMT IV.

More importantly, you cannot blame Atlus when Japanese gamers seem to not care much anymore for consoles and are infatuated with handhelds, and in general jrpgs for the past 5+ years have been release on handhelds. So no, Atlus take a hell of a time to develop the SMT games, and the market in japan shifted to handhelds.

You are super exaggerating with your statement and totally false, P5 is in development, you got and extended story entry of P4/P3 with the fighting game, you got a new IP in the form of Catherine, you got SMT IV finally after 10 years (normal development time), before that you got SMT: Strange journey, along the way we got the amazing Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor series, so no, Atlus franchises are not killed in any way, you got new entries and on the contrary you even got ton of localizations from Atlus USA as publisher and for old SMT games which only help increase the fanbase and awareness of the awesomeness of the SMT series.

How can you complain about ports of games that never saw the light of day outside Japan (Soul Hackers) or its localization was utter BS (Persona 1/2)

What happened here is again, the market in Japan shifted to handhelds and maybe the huge learning curve for PS3 development, as Atlus was releasing exclusively for PS.

Do you hate handhelds? Embrace then, handheld jrpgs are in no way inferior to consoles, graphics are never the most important part of a rpg but psp was capable of ps2 graphics level, vita looks as great as ps3 and while not graphically powerful, ds/3ds game look great too and are in no way shorter games, those system have AMAZING jrpgs and all combined have a huge library.

GREAT then, go for it SONY, goddammit. Just not SE, Namco Bandai or Sega (or Nintendo).

Only Sony sees like a good fit for Atlus, or Kadokawa maybe.

Don't think we need to see Atlus tied to one hardware manufacture. Not sure why Namco or SE wouldn't be fine.

Assuming "P5" doesn't come out on PS3. Which it probably will, because that make the most sense.

Was going to say more, but I'm tired of your overly cynical posts about Atlus, and I have better things to do with my time.

I mean its like people forget they made the Trauma Center games. They had more then Catherine this console gen.

Long gaps aren't even unusual, they are the norm with Atlus series.

Have they slowed down on console games? Yes, every Japanese developer has and Atlus is not a huge company. Give them a break, not like they haven't made tons of games elsewhere.
