We don't need new hardware, we need new games!

I'd actually get this unlike the portable system. Good on ya Sony!

For years, I've hated portable game systems but loved their games. Finally, a solution to my love of both wacky Japanese import games and my living room entertainment center!
Honestly, outside of me, I don't know how much of a market actually exists for this, but I'm buying one! |

Just be sure to check if your import is compatible with the list:
http://www.jp.playstation.com/psvitatv/game/psvitalist/ (Danball Senki W is on there FOR THE WIN) games that rely on touchscreen functions, etc aren't supported, at least for now. Dualshock 4 should be a solution when it's out but they haven't confirmed if they'll actually make things more compatible with Vita TV. Anyway I'm sold just so I can play Danball Senki on my HD monitor. xD; and Muramasa. |

IIRC, isn't that kinda similar to Game Boy Player to play Game Boy Family (GB, GB Color, and GBA) games on GameCube year ago?

Same here. I was always interested in the games but I just don't care for hendhelds too much. I have a DS but rarely play it because its uncomfortable and the screen is so small. But with this I can play many of those RPG's I've missed out on these past few years with a comfortable controller and on a big screen. And if the U.S. price is similar to the Japanese price, $100, that's not bad at all. I'd get it in a heartbeat. |

Yes but that GBA adapter required the Gamecube. VitaTV will work by itself without another console. |

It's not new hardware, its a non-portable vita, so it expands the potential market for vita based games, and so potentially will accelerate the development of games. The only potential downside is that games that rely on the touch screen features will not be supported and so it may hinder any development of these types of games. Still .. I think touchscreen is pretty lousy as control feature anyway. EDIT: Apparently it supports the DualShock 4 controller (promo video shows using the DS4 controller as well as the DS3) so there is possibility for some limited touchscreen support. |

Traditionally I did not like portable systems, all of it changed with the psp I bought on a whim when I made a trip some years ago, I since learned to appreciate to play my games in the toilet, in the bed, basically all around the house ==I never take it out of home, that is not my thing I cannot do it anyway ==
Now I have my vita and also my 3ds. Point is, I understand all your reasons for not liking portables and thus this is a good effort to appeal to players that were like me, I looked down on portables but if you actually try them you will see their advantages, and well, the lack of jrpgs on the consoles this gen and them flourishing on portables helped a lot. For the record I've never felt tempted to play my psp/3ds/vita on tv or my 24" monitor, I did wanted it back when I did not like portables but now I appreciate the small screen. |

The Vita TV is an interesting concept. Since I do very little gaming on the go, and the Vita is finally getting a good critical mass of games, I'd seriously think about getting one.

I'm sorry, Sony, but I committed to a 3DS the instant Nintendo announced Pokemon X and Y. And all they had to do was put a new skin over the existing XL to come up with an edition I truly wanted.
But I plan to get a PS3 7 years late to the party once the PS4 comes out and the price on the PS3 drops! |

well sony you have my attention, playing corpse party, final fanatsy 7 crisis core and kingdom hearts bos again with a ps3 controller is a great idea. The aspect alone of playing psp/vita excusable only on a T.V. has my interest peaked greatly so I will keep an eye on this one.

Those two games are not available on PSN, so you can't play them on Vita/Vita TV. |
