Another thing I found interesting was the animation Torchic has on the summary page.

In the Japanese, they actually DO use the same word as Digimon... "Shinka."

I'm worried about the Mega Stones. Maybe I just have really bad memories of Street Fighter X Tekken, but I worry that Nintendo will try to screw us over with the Stones, barring them off as DLC. Nintendo has been pretty intelligent concerning their use of DLC (see: Fire Emblem: Awakening, where all of the DLC isn't even on the cartridge, and mostly adds to the experience), but Pokémon lends itself to being messed up by DLC really easily.
"Need cash for items? Well, we do have a map full of trainers from Wells & Fargo here... but it ain't gonna be cheap!"
"Need EXP? Here, a map full of rustling grass and Audino of all levels! Just pay $2.99 at the door, thanks."
Make no mistake, I'm nine kinds of excited for X and Y, but I'm still nervous...

From what I understand, it's only the Blaziken that has an exclusive MegaStone. Pokemon sells itself to kids, who are usually barred from being able to enjoy DLC, thanks to their parents, in Japan. So you probably won't be seeing anything outside a few Wifi/Wireless events and such.

This new system is absolute rubbish in my opinion.
But that Ampharos design. I like it.

So are these single use items, or do you equip them onto your Pokemon or something, or are they just items that are reusable forever?
Anyways, haven't been a fan of Pokemon for years (and X/Y just pushed me away from the series more), but Mega Pokemon seem like they'll be an interesting addition for fans of the game.

i wouldn't get too excited if i was you.
this franchise along with castlevania never did well when they went to 3D and i got burned too many times to count.
so , i recommend holding our horses before we get burned by another bad 3D game cause just like castlevania , the pokemon games are better off in 2D

nintendo has been slowly easing the fanbase into this transition for a while now. Last gen might not have been 3d but it had many 3d inspired designs such as the designs for the bridges and the way that buildings actually stick out instead of being flat against the background. Even this new gen that is supposed to be "full on 3d" isn't so jarring as the sprites don't look too drastically different than when they weren't 3d. There's enough hype around this games that imo nintendo is looking at a homerun and a system seller for their 3ds.

They're held items that simply activate a Pokémon's Mega Evolution during battle. They don't get "used up" or anything like that.

I've been wondering when the poke's would do this type of evolution since the 3rd gen.
