Best announcement from the con for me personally! About time guys, I will be eagerly awaiting this release. I am confident that FUNi is the best choice to handle this OVA series and I am glad they were the ones to get the rights for it. Hopefully this will be on Blu-ray, and will have a solid English dub. Now the only thing that can top this is if they announce FUNi has the Blu-ray rights to the originial series as well.

I am very, very happy with this news!

Not a surprise that they got Code Geass.

I wonder if they'll also announce that they have Nunnally in Wonderland as well. I wouldn't be surprised if Funi gave this a GITS Arise style release(which would be very cool).

I'm thinking that Funi will probably re-release the original two seasons in BD/DVD combos so they can get over $60 MSRP for each complete collection or even $60+ each for the two box sets per season.

Hope if Exile gets a dub, it's outsourced to Animaze, instead of freaking Funimation. Animaze are the best dubbing company in North(Anglo) America.

Awesome, the first episode was really cool.

That would be cool for me if they did BD/DVD sets for the two seasons since I never got around to buying it after watching on AS.

None of the original characters appear in this right? So this could be another Tenchi Muyo: War on Geminar situation where it doesn't matter where it's recorded. However with that said, I would prefer the Los Angeles voice actors get more work. The Texas voice actors are in EVERYTHING.

I could be wrong (I haven't seen R2), but going by the encyclopedia pages, it looks like Suzaku's the only original character in this new thing. So an in-house dub shouldn't be so bad.

Has Yuri Lowenthal been in any Funimation dubs? It would be neat if they could get him.

Yes, some do.

Suzaku is looking to have a major part of some aspect.
C.C's also confirmed. Most people are expecting to be a flashback but we don't know yet.

Are they going to release them individually? If they are planning to wait until the whole OVA series is complete, it's going to be awhile. They keep getting delayed.

^ either way it's kind of bugger for me, since it's tying up my favorite director, Kazuki Akane. Don't get me wrong; I'm certainly very interested in these movies, but with them coming out like 1 per year and all these delays, they probably won't be finished until 2016, and then it will probably be another few years until we see another show from him.

I think you're being a little too pessimistic, especially about that last part.

For example, Yasuhiro Imagawa directed the Giant Robo OVAs, which took from 1992 to 1998, but he still worked on G Gundam from 1994 to 1995.

I wouldn't be surprised if Kazuki Akane gets some extra TV work, sooner or later, even before this project concludes.

ever since Bandai Entertainment (Code Geass' original licensor) stopped licensing anime, i was wondering who would get the Code Geass OVAs. i'm very happy FUNimation, an anime licensing company with merit, received it.

about whether the OVAs will be dubbed by FUNimation, the fanbase doesn't so far have to worry about the cast (FUNimation is in Texas while much of the original Code Geass cast is from California).

like what was said before, the OVA's so far have only shown new characters, meaning we don't have to really worry about classic characters having new voice actors. the only concern would be for Suzaku and possibly C.C., however, FUNimation or a partner studio could have access to Yuri Lowenthal or Kate Higgins respectively. besides, Johnny Yong Bosch, Michelle Ruff, and Stephanie Sheh have been in FUNimation shows.

I believe the reason Texas voice actors are seemingly in everything is because FUNimation, which is based in Texas, is practically the dominant company in the anime licensing industry, and is still growing.

Competition, such as Bandai Entertainment in California stopped licensing anime while what was 4kids in New York suffered from financial troubles.

It was Bang Zoom that did Lelouch of the Rebellion if that other guy didn't know.

it definitely wouldnt sound the same at all if they used a different VA for both CC and Suzaku for Akito the exiled so hopefully they will have Yuri Lowenthal and Kate Higgins to reprise their old roles.

They might outsource the dubbing like Hellsing Ultimate.
