You would have thought that in this day and age Blu-ray should be the standard option.

I would be surprised if it didn't have a Blu-ray release.

It would be nice, but anime doesn't exactly sell gangbusters in the UK and BDs tend to sell a third as many copies as DVDs.

Manga went over this ground with some updated sales figures only today:

MVM just updated their site with release details for Patlabor and Linebarrels.

Most notable is the pricing for Patlabor, identical across formats, £25 RRP for both BD and DVD.

Will get a fair representation of the format split in the UK this way. Hopefully it's 50/50 by now.

I would read it but i still get the feeling Manga ent UK is ran by a bunch of teenagers who're only interested in the top 5 shounen titles.
