That video is cute and ,again, Shimada shows that he can draw really cute girls. Using moe girls as military recruiting tools is such a neat idea. If only we did that hear in the states.

No girl would sign up, and it'd be even more of a sausage-fest.

Well I guess you could be right. When I was entering the Indiana National Guard there were several females, but some of them were kind of butch looking. There were a few good looking ones too, but still

Soratobu Kouhoushitsu's resident otaku Captain Katayama would be proud.
(Also I imagine that First Lt. Sorai throughout that entire drama would be a pretty good recruiting tool for the ladies [who tend to be the drama audience] because he's adorable.)

I like the ufotable poster for the sdf better. Shimada can create/draw some amazing characters but do we need another flamboyant pink haired girl with twin tails.
At least make the girl with a normal haircut or more normal looking instead of over the top.
Still I don't think people are really going to join the military because some anime inspired mascot video/poster unless they already were thinking about it.

Advertisement's often more about raising consciousness rather than persuasion. Sure, you might not be in the market for a group of guys with guns to join, but the hope is that you'll think about them a little more, so that if ever you find yourself looking into joining one, you'll start with theirs - and being the starting point is often enough.
