Got really disappointed when the "show for children" Urobuchi was writing turned out to be Kamen Rider.
Then I read it's going to have fruits, samurais and dancing.
Count me in.

Would've preferred Precure by Urobuchi.

This pretty good news since I very recently got into tokusatsu series with Garo.So now my two interests overlap.

Radical!!! I absolutely love how Urobuchi is super adventurous and always creating things totally unlike what he's done before. I definitely want to watch this!

Gaim's sword is a slice of orange, and Baron's is a peeled banana. I'm not kidding.

That would have been great to celebrate Pretty Cure's upcoming 10th Anniversary. Laughing

this looks interesting, although I have to say this "fudge now I'm hungry for a fruit salad". being a fan of the kamen rider series I have to say this is different but I'll smack someone over the head if they make a sentai joke about gaimu the armor designs are interesting but I wouldn't have picked fruit

The city's controlled by a megacorp - clearly they wanted somebody experienced in man vs contract literature.

The power of fruits? I suppose citrus can be pretty painful if you have an open wound, fermented grapes can be used to get your enemies drunk and banana peels...because they're slippery?

Don't know, but I get the feeling that Urobuchi is just trolling himself in a "All I have to do is attach my name to something and money comes rolling in!" kind of way. While I've always been a fan of the underdog fighting against "the man", the fact that they try to combine it with a plot that sounds like it either came from a bad 2000s dance movie or a certain South Park episode (You Got Served!), just sounds really bad.

Tell me, will there be campy songs?! I will tune in if there are songs!

Well, there's truth and false to that statement. His name probably IS being attached to the project just because of his reputation. He most likely didn't make the designs, the concepts, or the general premise, including those behind the characters (if we're going by traditional Toei tokusatsu production patterns since Blade)... but he's a fan of the older Kamen Rider stuffs (though he claimed to have not seen Ryuuki until after Madoka was compared to it--after which, he said he wasn't ashamed of the comparison... take that how you wish). And he takes all of his projects seriously.
At least, when he was giving his countless interviews for Madoka, he said he just couldn't write things unless he knew what he wanted to do with them. He almost turned down Nasu to write Fate/Zero (actually, he did... at first) because he felt like the concept wasn't his, so it would've been really hard to do. And he turned down a sequel series to Madoka until he had finally watched the completed animation on television and the ideas came to him (which were too short for a sequel series, so they turned it into a film instead).

I don't think Gargantia really represented him that well as a writer, not because it lacked in tragedy (subtle tragedies still felt like they came from his mind), but because he wasn't the main person on the project. Psycho-Pass, however, was more fitting for him, even though many of the decisions in directing the series weren't directly his. The visual direction of Madoka was mostly Shinbo and Inucurry, so it's not like we can accredit him with EVERYTHING that made Madoka what it was. Which makes me conclude that any project with him in it really has to complement his style to work out in a way that's fitting. I'm almost afraid that Kamen Rider's staff won't let him get away with quite a bit, considering other writers in the franchise have had their ideas botched because they were too "dark" for children, and I really feel like he shines when he explored mature themes, so I'm skeptical about this show for now... but as a huge Kamen Rider AND Urobuchi fan, I have no excuse not to watch this to the end, even if it turns out to be a mess. =P
