The sad thing is, if they put an actual good show on, it wouldn't do nearly as well.

(Okay, Soul Eater is decent.)

well I have soul eater it was fun but maybe the final episodes didint quite do it, as far as E7, bebop and inuyasha go..... well they had their run,

bebop has been played to death, yasha needs to have its final arc air at the very least, viz licensed it last year so why is it not airing yet?

and E7.... well its a good nostalgia piece for me at least, but im hoping it will gain a little more popularity this time around, it never quite got where it wanted to go with the U.S audience, AO would be cool if aired.

shounen tittles are always popular every where, not just Japan and US. When you are popular, you will get alot of haters.

CB is the greatest thing ever forged by man.

But my point is the shows that are #1 are pretty uniformly crap.

One Piece is middling at best. I respect Oda's creativity in world building but the actual story is meandering and pointless. And the animated version is especially hamstrung with terrible filler and padding that would make DBZ blush. Naruto and Bleach are painful.

Well said. But that is obviously what people like and want. It's like Call of Duty. Each game is 90% of the same as the previous, but people still buy the new ones for the minor changes at full price.

How do they know the ages of people watching? I always wondered this.

It's based on the demographics of Nielsen's much out-dated "People Meter" system, where families keep diaries of what they're watching and give personal info like race, age, sex, etc.

I am, too. It's quite surprising how many people there are who opt to stay up uber late to watch series they could see anytime online, free of commercials. Must be those "casual anime fans" they talk about.

As far the line up, these shows are "good" in their own respects, among there own audiences. It just so happens that their audiences are larger. Rolling Eyes

Remember, people, "good" is a value judgement, not a mathematical truth or scientific fact.

Ah nice to see the negativity hasn't gone anywhere... oh well you can't please everyone...

I'm just glad the block (One Piece especially) is doing well.

Why can't anyone be happy for good news like this? Toonami returns, is getting good reception and this is the response? Just curious.

Great, we need some good news in the industry. Hopefully their success will continue, and wasn't just some statistical outlier.

Adult Swim’s original comedy special The Greatest Event in Television History 2 (Thursday, 12 a.m.) premiered #1 in its time period among adults 18-24 & 18-34 and men 18-24 – ranging between 7% and 31% – while also earning growth among all adult demos and men 18-24 & 18-34 vs. the same time period year ago.

Adult Swim programming – including Family Guy, American Dad, Robot Chicken and The Cleveland Show – accounted for 28 of the top 50 telecasts on basic cable for the week among adults 18-34, and for 35 of the top 50 telecasts with men 18-34, both more than any other network.

And now ya guys know why they do it................
