Good to hear the Funimation video player is getting upgraded. I'm a subscriber, and the player was serviceable, but it had enough trouble that it could easily keep people away.

Their video player DID drive people away and had become a joke. An upgrade is most certainly welcome.

Edit: So some of FUNi's current top sellers are Dragon Ball GT, Trigun and the new Tenchi. I guess it's true that FUNimation's bread and butter are older titles and franchises.

I'm also surprised that Mass Effect sold well for them, though with its name recognition factor perhaps I shouldn't have been.

Could someone please tell me what the Anime title mentioned at 6m 57s is? I've listened to it four or five times and I can't make it out. Thanks.

Thank you kindly.

Air is nine years old, but I suppose if you release something cheaply enough people will keep buying it. That said, I'm impressed at its staying power.

Makes me wonder if they added "from the creators of Clannad and Kanon" on the cover or something. Or hell, "from the creators of Haruhi" works too. I'm always amused by how many people I've met who have even declared themselves as Key and/or KyoAni fans who had either never heard of Air or had no idea it was a Key/KyoAni show.

The people at Funimation sure sound like an interesting group of people. haha. They seem to very in tune with their teenage consumers. I guess they should be since their job is marketing to them or whatever.

I got a lot of laughs from this one. Especially when the Funimation guy started doing his Data impression.

Great Podcast, dudes.

They've pretty much said on an earlier ANNCast (and if I remember right I got Lance himself to confirm) that a disc release of Tatami Galaxy is not going to occur.

Anyway, I'm guessing Minami-ke Tadaima did nothing for them seeing how they only have 4 episodes streaming on their Youtube account. That blows.

There are hardcore fans out there like me that just love all of key/visual arts works. With that said Kanon 2006 and Air do have bluray releases in japan, it would be nice to see them here someday.

Great interview guys! You both seem like you are really in tune with the fanbase for your stuff and were fun to listen to in this podcast as well! Had me chuckling quite a few times too. Laughing

Very glad to hear FUNimation is having a great year with no obvious duds thus far. Thank you for bringing over so many quality anime titles to North America...I'm really looking forward to Eureka Seven AO, Haganai, Black Lagoon: Roberta's Blood Trail, and Guilty Crown. I have them all on pre-order now.

The only negative I've had with FUNimation releases lately has been locked English subtitles over the Japanese audio track on a few select Blu-ray releases. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is one title where this happened and it annoyed me a bit to not be able to toggle it on/off while watching. Crying or Very sad

If there is a way for you guys to address removing these subtitle limitations, please do because it can be annoying not to turn them off when I would like. I'm also very happy to see you guys using Blu-ray sized art-boxes for your limited edition BD releases more consistently now. Cool My Spice and Wolf: Season One BD set looks a bit awkward in the DVD sized LE Spice and Wolf: Season Two art-box. Sad

Otherwise, keep up the great work and I'm sure you are in for a really great year with all the nice stuff you are releasing. Very Happy

Thanks for answering one of my questions. I guess I naturally assume Viz doesn't have Ranma anymore because their DVDs are now very OOP, and I figured with it coming to Blu-ray in Japan (with no English subs or dub), I would assume it would be a more attractive title.

I guess if I ever get the opportunity to ask Viz any sort of question, that would be it (in addition to a bunch of questions about the nauseating way they've treated Blue Dragon).

Did FUNi say what their #1 title was? Was it Trigun? I thought I heard them say that was "one of" their top titles.

Great to see DBGT right up there! Very Happy That is sheer proof that internet/fandom reception doesn't necessarily translate to sales (DBGT's reception among DB fans is lukewarm at best, though I personally enjoy the show).
