I see nothing wrong here, two awesome Hasbro Properties on one cover, and the MLP:FIM comics are pretty good, great writing, and for the most part solid art work as well.

There TF comics are pretty good as well. Both deff worth checking out if you haven't.

Also jealous I be of the lucky sods that are able to buy this at Botcon.

I never thought I'd live to see the day...

Too bad it had to be G4 (not a huge fan of Pinkie Pie), but oh well! I'll take it!

Sales gimmick so people actually buy Transformers comics, more than likely. That's what crossovers are usually for.

Just a nitpicky note:

The last line of the article sounds a little misleading. BotCon is held annually at different locations around the country. San Diego city isn't hosting it exclusively. A better way to say it would be "BotCon is being held this year in San Diego, at the Town and Country Resort from June 27 to 30."

Also, saying "BotCon event" sounds a bit redundant. We don't say "Otakon event". BotCon is a con just like Otakon.

Cept its not a Transformers comic, its an MLP comic with Optimus on the front, the story inside is the Pinkie Pie Micro Comic set to come out that month.

Its a nice little present for people who were fans of both MLP:FIM & Transformers. Nothing more nothing less. But yes, people should read both comics, or at least give both comic series a try, they are both pretty fun reads.

But ahh yeah, gotta wonder why ANN even posted this, as its a completly U.S. comic article, sure Transformers has anime ties, but this, I dare say this post is just here to troll ANN forum users. *Which I am completly fine with myself* Laughing But yeah.

We old-school pony fans try to ignore that animation. As they say "Kill it with fire!" Smile

No, I was more referring to the original 80's line, but the chances of that happening ar 0%.

I couldn't imagine a "My Little Pony"/"Transformer" crossover in my life. It's just too weird to be believed. I never thought it would happen. And I thought all those "Hello Kitty" crossovers with other anime were weird. This has to be weird on an unbelievable level. I don't know how the Japanese will feel about it if this comic ever shows up in Japan.

If the concept was tried seriously, wouldn't the end media look something akin to what we get out the Certain Scientific Railgun series (ie cute girls + explosions = awesome)

So Michael Bay directing a My Little Pony movie would sell well?

They've done tons of references and cameos in the series both cartoon and comic alike. Dr. Who is referenced in the background in a comic, for example. And, hello, seriously, in the show Discord is basically Q from Star Trek TNG so much so they got the actor to voice the character.
...so seeing this is not surprising at all.....

Besides, there are usually like... 4-8 variants of a single issue of the comic and you get the variants by buying them through a specific selling (i.e. Hot Topic sells them and has their own covers).

Instead of caring about some bizarre cover... Really, I'll retain to be insulted by the fact that the comic had an interesting story and the animation ends up with something like Equestria Girls. Really... why couldn't they have adapted Queen Chyrsalis's revenge or something into animation.
