Wait what? They can't be serious, they're cutting it off right in the middle of the Grand Magic Games. I thought they still had a lot of manga material to cover, whyyyy?!!!

I hope this is a short break -since they can't just shove a filler arc in the middle of the games- and that the anime picks back up quickly. I HAVE TO seespoiler[ Gajeel's Shadow Iron Dragon form animated ] or there'll be blood to pay

Huh? This is unexpected, but why?
I thought the anime was a sucess in Japan. Did the anime catch up the manga?

So what happens now, will the anime return later this year?

Hmm... it's pretty close to the manga now isn't it so I guess that's why.

Also Bleach is meant to be returning soon I believe.

I would really hate to see this series go =( It's one of my favorite on-going series... but I suppose it's better than loading it with fillers...

hmmm, so looks like its going to end off around chapter 300. Kind of a good cliffhanger i guess. spoiler[Sting killing saberthooths master and the dragon graveyard] Yea the anime is only basically on chapter 291 out of 321(current) so you figure a episode does about 2-3 chapters sometimes it will catch up pretty soon. Hopefully it is just a break instead of filler. If they resume at the end of the year it should give the manga a good lead.

Wow, really? I hadn't realized it was so close. It feels like a lot has happened in the fifth day (heavy manga spoiler) -spoiler[the assault on the palace with all the battles against the special guards, the initial eliminations in the fifth day, Princess Hisui, Gray vs Rufus, future Lucy, Minerva/Erza/Kagura, Gajeel vs Rogue, the recently concluded Jura/Orga/Laxus and the ongoing Gray+Juvia vs Lyon+Cheria]- , so I thought there was still plenty of stuff to cover. But I guess you're right, spoiler[ Sting killing Genma and the Dragon Graveyard] would make for a fantastic cliffhanger, assuming the series picks up again in the near future

Let's just hope this doesn't turn into KHR or DGM, which had their anime end and never picked up again

The anime has actually been getting pretty mediocre ratings in Japan. It's been getting anywhere between .7-1.5% average when in the past it was 2-3%.

People just haven't been watching it as much as they used to so sponsors are pulling out I'm assuming*; that and they have been slowly but surely been catching up the manga. Very similar to Gintama though in where they made a new OP just to get canceled a few weeks later for Gintama Season 2 because they were running out of material

*Pure Speculation of course since I don't work for Japanese TV companies X D

Well, it's also kind of true that Fairy Tail hadn't officially announced a season 4 yet, even though we would normally hear that around october, in which we didn't last year. -_-... so hopefully it might come back later this year

I bet it's only temporary. I thought this show was big success. I haven't watched myself, but i've heard good things about it. I really was hoping this would be another full adaption anime. I really hope it continues.

I don't know about the ratings or the DVD sales, but the manga has been selling like crazy for a while, and the recent movie that came out in Fall was very sucessful too, wasn't it? I do want to believe this is due to lack of material rather than a cancellation over lack of popularity

I actually just breathed out a long "Noooo" when I read the article's title, but Mashima's tweet gives me hope.

Hopefully this is just a mini break to avoid fillers. Hopefully.

It's sad. Even after 6 months of the filler arc, they are still very close to the manga. They should have made more fillers Smile.

YES! best news of the day Very Happy

Fairy Tail's TV ratings have sucked worse than Bleach's so this was only a matter of time and the DVD sales are atrocious vol 36 sold 437 copies (http://www.mania.com/aodvb/showthread.php?t=111958&page=20) then vanished forever.

Now to hope the better news is for the manga to end Cool
