Let's just hope that they will make the movie with respect toawrds the novel it's adapting.
I've seen lots of US films adapted from anime & japanese manga/novels and failed (DragonBall Evolution, Speed Racer, etc). |

I wouldn't count on it. I haven't seen it so obviously this is speculation; but Tom Cruise is one of those stars who tends to have movies molded to fit him rather than adaption to fit the movie/role. Who knows, maybe this will be different, but I wouldn't put money on it.

Opinions are opinions but I personally thought the Speed Racer movie was awesome. |

People aren't familiar with the original, so it wouldn't matter.
The only thing that'd matter is if they enjoy the movie. |

That "Speed Racer" movie was a really fun movie, eventhough it didn't succeed at getting back it's $120 million budget back at the box-office. |
